We needed more than that, beaten by poxy shims Valve clearances are too tight on replacement heads and amongst the 50 or so shims I have of this type, none small enough. Have tried manually grinding them down to size but as you can imagine for their purpose, they are made of Kryptonite!
Luke is going to pop into Zen on his way in tomorrow to see if Paul has any to hand amongst his shim collection but this has now put us further behind
Big thankyou to Frayz for this evenings moral boosting pop quiz

Let's hope Paul has the required shims
Guess I won't be on running in duty today then?

PMSL, i swear you lot think an engine just falls together in no time at all lol.
The man hours involved are absolutely massive. I wish we hada video diary so you could all see just how much time an engine consumes during its build.
The heads alone took me 11 hours on friday, and that was done on the "quick" using hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of tooling.
Running in will be done as soon as its built mate...

As Mike has already said, the comment was made in jest. Please do not interpret what I have posted as anything but.
I have offered to spent however long it takes to run the engine in, overnight if needs be, and when I was with Zak on Tues, Thurs pm was a possibility. Indeed I have left left all of my work commitments flexible to allow for this.
Keep up the great work guys, it is truly appreciated

I read all your comments as in jest guys, hence my (PMSL) at the start of my post.
Its just i really wish everyone could see the man hours an engine build consumes. I have almost every tool i could ever need and can still easily spend over 150 hours on one build.
Engine out, stripped, diagnosed, parts sourced and ordered, machining work carried out, receive parts, build engine, fit, run in and race all in a 2 week timeslot with a bank holiday in between is a near impossibility... but we're having a go.
At the moment everything that has held us up is the waiting on others.
If everyone else delivers on time, i really hope we can do the same.
