The TA organisers are a bit hot on that, as a good few abused the system at Donnington. Also at most rounds you need to be in the pits by either 7 or 8 am, and they do not let you out again untill after the presentations.

a wet race should level the field out a bit I'd have thought, no pressure

It's not that bad nowadays. You get out ther car park pretty quickly. Within minutes. You then travel along the A43 and think you're making good progress.......

Suddenly you will come across a diversion if you are heading on the M1 south. DO NOT TAKE THIS. All they do is divert you along country lanes behind silverstone and through Milton Keynes. It wil take you about 3 hours.

Just ignore the diversion and if you absolutely have to just go north on the M1 for 1 junction and turn around again...

Cheers Brian

Surprisingly or rather incredibly, the only external damage is:

A few suspension parts needed and brakes but apart from that I am very lucky indeed.

Jeesh it was wet and looking at the pics confirmed my own thoughts of what happened, the back out stepped out (which isnt usually a problem) unless it steps out onto the exit kerb and that was even slippier than the rest of the track, it flew out too wide, over-corrected and by then an impact was inevitable.

Well done to Zak and Mike though

What a day.....

I had never driven the circuit and rather foolishly had wished for rain....
Although in my mind it was a light shower I had thought of, not the down pour we had...
Warm was so wet there was inches of standing water every where... I took it very easy, especially haven seen Duncan in the armco a few laps in...
But the moment I pushed the car, in a straight line mind... the back stepped out... around 80Mph and right next to the grass. lucky for me I was able to keep it under control, although I really didn't feel like I was and I thought my time was up....
I even had a friend in the car as a passenger!!!

Well next sessions was wet but with little standing water.. I built my time up through the session, with several drifting moments, but never really feeling out of control and I guess not really pushing to the limit. Result was 13th overall... I was very happy and felt more to come.

Qualifying was however different conditions again.... bone dry and loads of grip on track.. I made some quick adjustments to the setup before going out. But two laps in and someone had gone off and the session stopped for 10 mins... then out again.. I start pushing fro my qualifying time and the intercooler pipe came off!!!! Back into the pits and a quick repair before heading out. By this time there was little time of the session left and I knew I had to push hard. 1 lap in and I was throwing the car around trying to find the limits. 2nd lap and it was all or nothing.... sadly for me it was nothing!!! I came in hot to a bend braked but just didn't feel right and chose to drive straight off the circuit and across the gravel... then the session was chequred flagged!
Didn't qualify, although I am very confident I could have had I not had the intercooler pipe issue. but I guess that’s part of the gamble of racing.... plus I walked away with a broken bumper thanks to my nose dive into the gravel!

So all in all a disappointing and sobering day... but I have to look on the bright side. there were several cars that left the track in a very, very bad way(around 2 written off, another had a bonnet fly up and smash the screen, but managed a safe stop!)

Well done Mike, the ups and downs of motorsport i guess. I have footage of you overshooting a corner in qualifying i think, as i approached the chicane, you approached it from the right

Thanks steve and great to see you again and well done of course for qualifying for the final again!

And yes i went wide at the fast left hander and knew i would struggle to get round, so took a nose dive into the gravel instead!
