Thumbs up

One for the music ones amongst us:

I went to school with Most of the members of a band called The Cooper Temple Clause (Couple of top 40 singles, played Raading, Leeds etc)
The only ones I knew personally were:

Didz Hammond - Family friend and now in Dirty Pretty things

John Harper - Was in my year and was a fairly close mate. Still speak to him now whenever he is back locally.

Oh and according to Friends Re-united in one of the many Primary schools I attended there was a guy who is now a Pilot for the REd Arrows but can not remember him for the life of me

One for the women i suppose, but Scott Wright was a few years above me in school, he was a sound lad, and my older was good mates with him, we nearly choked on our dinners when he appeared on Coronation Street and stripped in the Rovers

School: John Simm

College: Neil Hodgson & Glenn Chaple (LCC)

Haven't seen John for about 8 years now, and only see Hodgy and Chaps every now and then - my mum still natters to Hodgy's mum every week though so I get updates that way

Other than that, just a few minor celebs at School and my cousin Barney was in the Milltown Brothers.

Josh Lewsey was a few years below me at school.

Sticking one on the French in the rugby world cup

Famous in other circles, I was in the same class as David Pyatt, principal French horn for the LSO.

That'll be the 2007 World Cup Semi-Final in Paris. The clue is in the corner flag. I think he piled over Damien Traille (French fullback) for an early try on the way to a terrific win.

Cool

The secondary school I went to was joined to another by a mutually shared building, and Rhys Ifans went to the other one. Similar age to me. Is, and was, a ****.

Johhny Buckland of Coldplay went to my school, though at 10 years younger than me, wasn't there at the same time.

One of my golfing buddies was a close friend and I believe he's a jolly decent, if quiet, chap.

Ah Famous boasts. I remember this little gobshi*e I went to college with claiming he was Jamie Redknapp's cousin. There were about 30 of us watching footy in a pub one sunday after noon when this lad asked who was the close up of. Quick as a flash one of the lads piped up that's your f*cking cousin Jenkins!! By christ did we laugh and we never heard that particular line from the little shyte again!!

I played football on the school team with Gary Rowett and Lee Bradbury and my best claim to fame is snogging Anthony Minghella's Daughter at Colonel Bogey's Night Club on the Isle of Wight one summer

When I lived down south I went to school with a couple of guys that now represent at club/international level.

Will Smith, not surprisingly, is now a Cricketer... back in School we could always tell if a game was going to be hard/easy to win, if Smithy knocked past 50 then he was there for the long-run and we'd have little problem winning. If he was dismissed earlier than that, then we had a game on our hands:

The year below me at school, was Will Skinner. Never really got to know him too well, but remember it was his older brother that was meant to be the hardman... I'm not so sure that its the same any longer:

At the same time, in the same year as me and Will Smith, David Callam was showing that he was a bit of a force to be reckoned with on the Rugby side of things.. extremely fit and powerful, playing Golf with Dave would be disheartening off the tee when he crushed the ball twice as far as your drive:

When I moved up north I was really good friends at School with Alasdair Dickinson who plays rugby for Gloucester and is in the current Scotland Squad alongside Dave. Me and Dickle used to kick about in/out of school together and I'm planning to head down to see him with a few other school friends now he's settled with a place in England:

I've played rugby against a few of the other guys in the Scotland Rugby Squad when at School/District level and held my own.. but they've taken the big step into professional sport and its a huge difference to what I was used to. The amount that these guys train is extremely impressive, but the amount that they consume to bulk up and build on the training is phenominal.

You'll notice that all mine are sport related, I may/may not know other people that are recognisable but nothing springs to mind and its a wee bit toooo late for me to start the cogs turning again.

Cheers,
Grant

Angus Deaton went to my school (but some years above me) as did Alastair (Ali) Brown, the Surrey/England cricketer - he was in the year above me and was the only one who could hit a ball from the crease to beyond the chemistry labs (which seemed abou 200m away at the time!)

the girl who married Paul Daniels' son

now that's magic!

oh, and my next door neighbour married Mike, from the famous Mike's Carpets. (Yorkshire folk will know the one!).
Plastic garden chairs in the back of a builder's wagon - classy wedding!

Most kids from my school are probably dead or banged up.
