This is my last car with 17's

And this is my current Subi on 18's.

Planning on upgrading to 40-series tires next time.
It all boils down to setting up the suspension correctly. It handle good either way. I'm lowered on coilovers and track the car. I prefer the direct feeling the 18's provide over the 17's. and the larger brakes are a big plus on the Track. Everyone I've given rides to complements on the ride quality, for being a street legal track car.

roads in the UK are terrible John; tramlining is rife, there are pot holes and ruts everywhere. 18's would make sense if you got to drive on super smooth surfaces all the time...oh and there was a reason the Prodrive wheel upgrade was only 17" on classics too

IMHO, oftentimes, 18s are too large for the car (classics), even if just by sight. I personally can't deal with tiny sidewall.

Here're my 17x7s, car's dirty, small brakes, etc. (Dunno why the pic is tinied)
