I've just given an example of the Tories speaking up and Labour stealing the policy. I'm sure there are many others
The opposition role is to oppose the gov't not to put forward the minutia for a manifesto when there is no election.
The next election won't be about policy, it will be about the personality of the leader and the perceived competence of each party, much like the last few elections then.

As somebody who lives in C&N and hence voted, I have to say I've found myself bemused by all the interest. I've never known so much effort go into any election I've been old enough to vote in. Our paper recycling bin is stuffed full of letters, leaflets and more from every party (bar that fit bird though)

Just saying ..... if they had the answers to solve our current dilema they should speak up now and not stand by and watch!!
They will then be seen as the heroes and will be voted in by a massive landslide ..... people are not stupid, they will remember who came up with the ideas!!
However, I suspect that they haven't a clue what to do!
