Car - 1990 - passed 1st time, 14 days after my 17th Birthday having had 10 lessons. I used my parents' Ford Orion Ghia i for the test, and had 2 minor errors during the test.

Motorbike - 1997 - passed 1st time after a three day intensive training course. Got 3 minors during the test, nearly failed on Highway code questions for not bothering to re-read it before the test.

Cat 1 bike, 1st time, raining cats & dogs, 1980, Honda h100, real barsteward examiner.

Cat 2 bike, 1st time, 1983, Honda CB250RS (Still on the roads!) Examiner was a friend of my dad's, asked me to identify "No entry" sign, and followed me home from centre, had the paperwork filled out when we stopped at my house for a cup of tea

Car 1st time, couple of dozen lessons, 1986, driving a 1968 Triumph 1300, snowing, in the dark. Nearly failed for unnecessary hand signals, which were dropped from the test only a few weeks before.

I had about 5 lessons but had been driving for ages. Also, once 17 in Ireland you could drive on your own with L plates so took advantage of that. Passed 1st time in a Chrysler Avenger Estate.

I later transfered the Republic licence to an NI one.

I then decided I wanted 2 licences (for some reason) so took the UK test aged about 22 in a Metro - passed no problem.

A month later, I passed my full bike test, again no problem. Bike was an RXS 100 Yamaha - reckoned not a bad idea to come up looking Captain Sensible rather than the courier I was...

Passed 2nd time in the pouring rain, dark and rush hour in exeter. Driving a BSM metro. after 7-8 lessons. Failed the first for not slowing down enough whilst passing an on-coming car, and touching kerb in the three point turn.

The Mrs passed 4th time after 45ish hours, and she still can't parallel park.

Passed first time 9 weeks after 17th Birthday in a 3 day old Fiesta in 1986.

My instructor got a new car just before the test. My driving test was the first time I'd driven it.

Cheers

Me too Fiesta (also brand new) belonged to my Aunt , who happened to be a driving instructor. Had 4 lessons and got a short notice test by taking a cancelled test slot.
I haven't driven a Fiesta since
