Doesn't look much like 140mph to me either......

As for his "corner" - that might rate as a corner in the US.....

All that said - I've seen worse driving by people doing 40mph.

..... he's funny, and that was quite an educational narrative especially the bit where he explains that "...140 miles an hour" is " one-four-zero miles an hour" God bless the US of A

total ****...
I was caught and banned doing 130 on a motorway and learned my lesson quick.
it just aint worth it........worrying bout the potential cop round the corner and the potential mayhem a crash at that speed would cause.
still in the scoob though

I have done 140 + in my Scooby, (I currently have 239kmh showing on my GPS) and it is brown trousers speed and hanging on for dear life, everything is moving past you so fast and the slightest twitch on the stearing wheel has big impact. The car did not sound like it was doing 140 let alone the scenery outside.

He was over 140kph for sure but not 140mph. Also if it was 140mph wouldn't the camera man get a close up of the speedo rather than continue pointing it out the window.

Braking from 140 takes lots longer than that, also the cars he passed (assuming they were doing the speed limit) would have passed much faster.

I'm thinking he's fibbing about the speed... ton up, yes... 140 NO

Silly thing to do under the conditions anyway

When I first got on French Autoroutes 6-7 years ago, I did indeed see how fast I could go. There was a nice section which had warning signs that the next exit and services was nearly 90 Km's away, and I hadn't seen a car for a few minutes. The speed limiter (wife) was in sleep mode, so I slowly built up to flat out in my MY '00 wagon. The speedo was well over the speed limit, even if you swapped KMH for MPH. Scared the living daylights out of me, but also caused a massive adrenaline rush. Done that a few more times since, I even blitzed past a pair of Gendarmes on bikes early one evening at about 120 MPH as I passed a big Toyota 4x4. they were in front of him and I didn't spot them until it was too late. I guess they were on their way home because they didn't even bother trying to catch me, which I'm sure they could of. I think that was the year before the big clampdown on speeding in France.

In the last couple of years, common sense and the fear of the Gendarmes in their Scoobies has curbed my enthusiasm. Also going flat out in a straight line isn't as much fun as a good country road trash.

Yes, I was a tw*t, driving like that.
