Prior to the UK MY01 / US MY02 a WRX refered to a Japanese Impreza Turbo or an Australian Impreza Turbo (may be others too.)

Bris, be careful over here. These guys are dangerous....

First off, you must remember that they don't speak normal English like we Americans do. They speak some weird variation known as the "Queen's" English. Though why an entire country would choose to speak like men in drag is beyond me!
Second, these hounds will say anything to make you pay attention to them, such as suggesting that a spoiler adds 25hp. (Sorry to give away your game, J!) It's an odd British thing whereby they think you'll like them more if give you lots of trouble.
Also, please remember that this is an entire country of people that drive on the wrong side of the road! Oh yeah, and that don't know the proper automotive terms for things like the hood and trunk, not to mention having no idea what a truck is!

Seriously, don't be quite as gullible as you're coming off. Lots of folks will tell you lots of things just to see what you'll say in response. Congrats on trying to learn about your car, it's a good first step!
