Yep, agree with you there. A lot of people think that the Prodrive Style STi's are PPP cars, when in fact they are just body kitted cars, running normal power.

Depends on the insurance company.

Elephant knew the difference, so did Directline.

And Keith Michaels do

Depends more on who you speak to in the insurance company. And always bear in mind the calls are recorded. One person in one of said insurance companies said because they didn't have dump valves on the list it doesn't matter. Who are we to argue with them eh

Earlier in the post I gave the figures for accellerating in 4th from 1500-7000 rpm which averaged 16.98. This is on an 02 WRX STi UK and the log book states PPP but there has been no uprated fuel pump or ECU. The car was already fitted with a tuners downpipe and "Performance Uppipe". The Performance Uppipe was a joke.
Ported headers and my own pupose designed uppipe were fitted and the following figures obtained.
17.09
16.06
16.03
16.38
16.28
15.68
Average 16.25.
Right from the start the car felt smoother and stronger and it was pulling well before 2500 rpm, much lower than before. Three quarters of a second does not sound much but on the road it was quite noticable.
The ECU was then reset and the following figures obtained.
17.22
16.16
16.40
15.97
16.13
16.01
Average 16.31.
I assume the ECU is still learning and with a little more running more advance will be added to get back to the previous performance.
As an experiment I then ran with aircon switched on with the following figures.
17.39
16.40
16.82
16.78
16.62
16.48
Average 16.75.

Weather conditions for all four runs were similar. Ambient for run 1 was 13 deg.C. Run 2 18 deg. C and runs 3 and 4 20 deg.C.

Conclusions : Ported headers with the appropriate uppipe make a big difference.
Running aircon shows a definate performance degrade.
The first run in every case was the slowest so best performance is when the headers, uppipe and turbo are fully warmed through which indicates to me the importance of wrapping headers, uppipe, and downpipe and fitting a blanket to the turbo.

Will post further figures after the car has been Ecuteked.
