Tell ya what Harry.
Give some well known and trusted mappers a call. Most will travel a certain distance. They will be able to give you the accurate truth and some example costs.
Much better than the tom-a-toes, tom-ar-toes on this thread.

On a 'remap', no not really. Prices I have seen advertised, JGM and AndyF for example quote between 300-350 +VAT for changes to an EcuTek thats not their own base map. If this is untrue or available cheaper via another mapper I stand corrected.
Is it a cheaper way of getting an 'EcuTek remap', yes marginally, but at best on AF's prices £50. Not that I ever said it wasn't cheaper. It's still a more expensive way of getting a car remapped than using the existing ECU via alternative software.
Bearing in mind the 'value' of that ECU loaded with EcuTek, not only would you pay less for your remap going the Mocom route, but also recoup more value from selling that on than selling your existing ECU.
Either way regardless of the OP's ECU purchase, it's always good to read an alternative opinion/option. I mentioned Mocom once to recommend what I thought was a viable cost alternative and then a second post to respond in clarification. Also there are benefits to being able to have your mechanical and remap work done under one roof. I wasn't aware this was offered the EcuTek mappers mentioned.
No slapping required, but you missed BODSKI who would also qualify as a mocom boy

I was in the same boat....I was going to purchase an ECU with the license but as said, by the time I had bought it, then got it mapped I would only be saving a small amount so Ill be getting my own ECU done. That said, IT IS CHEAPER to get a second hand ECU
