scooby's that look crap !

95% scooby drivers are chavs and obviously stupid
The other 5% are extreemly cool, good looking and very inteligent! with ginormas ****,and totally irrisistable to the opposite sex!!
Thats because they drive the only subaru to have the "Type R"

Hope no-one minds a newbie getting in on this discussion.
But one thing that is really getting up my **** is the "snobbery" that I've encountered on here.
I'm only 23 and haved owned my jdm my02 STI for less than a month. I wouldn't class myself as a chav, but sometimes I do like to play my music loud, or sometimes I have the windows down to listen to the rumble and sometimes I may wear a baseball cap if I can't be fooked to style my hair. WTF is wrong with any of the above?
Where is it written that people under the age of 24 can't own a scooby without being called a chav??
Face it, Imprezas are affordable cars and what with the improvements in hot hatches (STs VXRs Type Rs etc) the new Impreza is effectively just a hot hatch!
Subarus will always have that boyracer image (maybe less so with the my08), it doesn't matter whether you're old, young, wear a baseball cap.
If you want class then go buy an m3 or a RS4. If you want exclusivity (which certainly Imprezas don't have) then go buy a lambo or Zonda.
But the fact remains that most people probably couldn't afford the above, hence are driving a Scooby because they are affordable cars with performance to match.
I've seen comments on here such as "makes me want to sell my Subaru than to be associated with these chavs!" and it annoys me to think that some Subaru owners think that they are more special than others.
Rant over.
Ps. the scoob is just a temporary solution until I turn 25 and insurance is cheaper, and I can afford the GT-R or Evo-FQ400. When I'm 30, I'll be driving a Porsche

These threads do make me chuckle.
Often wonder what people make of me out and about in mine, I`m 26 in a newage, I would much rather have my window down than the air con on, I do have louder front speakers to here them over the exhaust and becuase the back ones have been removed. I even ocsionay where a baseball cap if my hair is due a cut. (Maybe I should be shot for this????) I have a very sad taste in music and its more than liely that if you do here the music i`m playing it will be country!!

Lets be honest now, what would you think if you saw a 24 year old driving down the road in this with the front windows down?
I mean come on, its got the lot, silly graphics, big shiney wheels, bigger exhaust, silly intercooler etc etc.
I know if i was any normal driver that wasnt interested in cars id be thinking tw@t, boy racer chav blah blah blah.
Must be speeding everywhere etc etc.

I personally find the impreza drivers that 'rally slag' their cars up with stickers to be pretty sad or have a least one Scooby Doo toy/item somewhere in their car but do realise it's their choice.

But it's true "we are" ..... we're an elite bunch on here, most of us bought the impreza brand when it was unknown but to a select few and WAY outside of anything the working class could afford!
We'd drive them to equestrian events (as in the good old days they were related to the landed gentry) and sit there sipping a cool beer and watch all the totty trott past.
But todays influx of "hoodies" and "baseball hat wearing chavs" have just made the once proud brand, well.... I'll say it "common". To those youngsters on here that maintain their classics in a respectful way I say "bravo!" as you're keeping the history intact, however to those of you that glue on body parts, slap on stickers or add those sub-woofer things for added bass.... well that's just not cricket!
Still, fear not... as we still intend to stick around and represent the up market ownership of the brand

I'm 44 and regularly drive around with windows down, have a VTA dumpvalve and nearly always play loud music....what's even worse is that my current fave CD is Rainbow's greatest hits
I say good luck to the 'youngsters' we are always beating up on here - I will even lend them my Rainbow CD

I'm just turned 26, and have had my impreza bout... 3months? its a classic black wagon with full rear tints and up untill recently i had a blonde girlfriend.... and get theis; i have BROWN skin!! and ware a trucker hat! as it happens i'm not interested in american hiphop and well, loud music feels kind of embarressing in this car! i used to listen to my music loud as i wanted with my window down and an arm out if it was hot in my old filthy, dodgy 1043cc polo and awfull fiesta cause i used to think "no one will possibly think i'm showing off". I may need to get rid of the increadably loud dumpvalve that came with the car too cause i find myself trying to stay OFF BOOST sometimes when lost of people are about hahahaha!! just too aware of the message it sends out!
but i guess my saving graces are that my car is a wagon, and i'm into fast point to point stuff on quiet country roads, so nearly all the mods i will do will be functional and largely stay true to keeping it "performance first"-- it'll give me a buzz just knowing they are there, so never mind if everyone else cant hear or see them

Although some of us do care if you chav up your ride..... and not saying we don't believe you.... but a few pictures of your blonde girlfriend may help

The reason why Subaru fitted w@nk poor quality sound systems is because they knew impreza owners drive around with the windows down listening to the sound from the engine, so why waste money on the ice rubbish? I always think if you like music, buy a top quality sound system and install it in the comfort of your home, rather than in a car on display and at risk of getting robbed.
Reminds me when i first drove an impreza and i booted it down the local by-pass, when i heard the sound of the engine i pissed myself laughing in disbelief because i thought cars only sounded like that in the films during car chases. My mate who was in the passenger seat said, "we might as well toss the radio out of the window coz we won't be listening to that again"

just found this thread. so what was it the op said then as its been edited?
like to think that as a genuine subaru enthusiast (and not someone after cheap fast thrills) at a tender 23 years of age, im not classed as a chav. technically im not currently working class either

It was nothing to do with cars that look crap (as the title suggests), it was about drivers that **** the OP off. These were people who drive one handed with the window down and a blond 'bimbo' in the passenger seat.
#57
It must be comfortable because I do it without thinking about it,I sit with my seat leaned quite far back, sometimes I have the window down(no air-con),lacking the bimbo,my current CD is Edge of the 80's or The Clash or The jam.....
I'm hardly young on the other side of 40 and I don't really mind what OP says but I think he is stereotyping scooby "youngsters",same a young Nova owners or any other marque produced.
Perhaps if he learned to drive 1 handed he could have a tug on the move instead of tugging in front of his PC.....

for a start, dunno what the origional post said but this is me...
Im 23, (is that young to you lot or what?) im mixed race, and have my hair hanging in platts, so therefore cant wear a hat, but i wouldnt like to wear one anyway in fear of looking like a chav....i wont by a zipped coat/jumper UNLESS it has a hood, but i would never put the hood up unless its bloody freezin, im still at college and love the fact i pull into the car park and all the 17-19yr olds are sat their in their little civics, polos and corsas, i dont intend on chavving up my motor, unless u think a blitz nur spec system, forge dump valve, angel eye headlights and de-tango'd front end, a touch screen tv/dvd player inside, and maybe soon a sub in the boot- chavvish. i drive with my windows down as i smoke and hate the smell it leaves with windows closed, PLUS the ashtray in my impreza is a joke! also have my windows down due to- heat, loving the sound my car makes, (whats wrong with that?!) or im talking to someone. i WILL play my music loud if i want to, as i love music, especially drum and bass and i dj regularly which pays very well which leads me to drive and keep such a nice car, so ill play my louuuud drum n bass out my fully dwn windows if i want. plus i have no sun roof. but to be honest, if someone has the money, and respect to own a subaru, and keep it looking nice, stickers or not then wats the problem? end of day they drive the same car as some people moaning on here, u have something in common right there!!! i dont intend on putting massive bodykits on my car, just a nice sti kit (mines a turbo 2000 btw) some wr1 wheels and a wr1 spray job, and keeping it like that. havent even thought of touching the engine yet as i dont have that sort of knowledge! and you know what? young as i am, when i go off to uni next year, i WILL take it with me, better in my possession being kept nice and not ragged, than crashed by some twocer somewhere or scrapped in a yard
ill stop babbling now, lol
