Sorry Dave, re the caution, what I meant was about the accepting a Caution (as in admission of guilt) vs "I'm now cautioning you regarding blah blah blah..." I believe your response is right ie say nothing! As nothing is ever off the record!
An advocate friends advice if being spoken to is "Do you consider I have committed a criminal offence?" At which point they either have to caution you regarding your legal rights (ie in your case) or shut up.
Does seem like a blue touch paper event......
Anyway more importantly good luck with the car/project.

Got on with taking the engine out today
my mate Dave came round early doors after dropping his Mrs off to work and after a couple of bacon baps and a cup of tea we got to it
first was to de-plumb and disconnect, also removed alternator and power steering resevoir
![](https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/cupradave/My%20Scoob/DSC_0281.jpg)
next was the bit I was not really looking forward to, cutting some of the twisted front end off
![](https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/cupradave/My%20Scoob/DSC_0287.jpg)
![](https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/cupradave/My%20Scoob/DSC_0290.jpg)
Top section off
![](https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/cupradave/My%20Scoob/DSC_0298.jpg)
and the bottom
![](https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/cupradave/My%20Scoob/DSC_0300.jpg)
it all has to come off anyway and it made it much easier to get the engine out
then the craine was moved in
![](https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/cupradave/My%20Scoob/DSC_0302.jpg)
after alot of swearing and a couple of cups of tea we realised I had left a bolt in and thats why it would not come out, so we finished our tea and removed the bolt and guess what? the engine came out
![](https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/cupradave/My%20Scoob/DSC_0306.jpg)
we then removed all the wiring loom and electrics from the wings
![](https://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb81/cupradave/My%20Scoob/DSC_0307.jpg)
so there we have it, I have pretty much decided to try and repair her so I just need to put the wheels back on and it is pretty much ready to go off for pulling straight, more cutting and new bits welding on
and now for the pics of the bent bits

can get the car in for jigging at the middle of next week hopefully as long as I get the new panels in time
The wings, front panel, bumper, radiator and a few other bits have been sourced and just waiting for a confirmed price, the place the parts are coming from said they did not have a second hand alloy bonnet so they are trying to find me one or will come back with a price for a new bonnet
which brings me to a bit of a dilemma,,,
I have no idea how much a new alloy bonnet will cost but I have been deliberating for a while over going for a carbon bonnet but could never justify the cost, I now have to replace my bonnet anyway so should I go carbon?
what do you guys reckon?

no to the carbon bonnet dave...I know you are wanting the black/red contrast look again, but I think you had the balance just right last time around... plus with a carbon bonnet you are talking lots of money for a decent one.
just out of interest, was your bonnet the pre-facelift one or the later shape ??

it was the later face lift version mate
there is a seibon one on ebay for £400 which I thought was a good deal if it is a genuine one, as I say I have no idea how much a new alloy one will be so thought I may as well add the extra and go carbon
my brain feels like it is gonna explode with all these options
was also trying to decide whether to go for a V5/6 front bumper or stay faithful to the V4 as I had tried to with my styling before the accident

shame..I know of someone who had an alluy lightweight prefacelift going, though they cost anything from £180 upwards..
as for the bumper mate, you had it looking pretty good with the facelift bonnet, lights and grille and the older style bumper etc, but maybe this time it is worth going down the whole route ...maybe

cheers mate, if you hear of one going please let me know
as far as I am aware my car came out the factory with the facelift bonnet, lights etc and the older bumper, it also has the later facelift dash. My mates type R is an MY98 also and has the same front end as mine had but has the older style dash
cheers for your input mate, I just need to make my mind up
everyone seems to ditch the older style bumper for the MY99/00 one so maybe I should just put her back to the way she was

That is gutting mate, just read it all. I have just bought a 99 red uk turbo, and the thought of that is sickening.
But if it makes you feel any better, i crashed a red Rover 25 i owned into the back of someone. Didn't claim and took a while to get it sorted, and wasn't sure whether to buy another or get mine repaired.
I decided to get it repaired and it took a while, but once it was done i then modded it and was so happy i got it repaired.
It will be worth it in the end
And for what my 2ps worth, go carbon.
And get a 22b front bumper.

A wee update for those who are interested
I have spent the last couple of months spending stupid amounts of money imcluding the wife's new kitchen fund on parts and having the car jigged
I now have a majority of the parts needed to put it back together, only some bolts and clips to replace missing ones from the front end along with some engine bits
While I was working at the Motorshow in London a few mate collected my car for me from the workshop and got it back to the house for me, I have had no time since being home to make any progress as I went back to London last weekend but its not everyday you get to go see Tiesto at the O2, awesome night by the way
Anyway here is how she looks just now

well its been a busy few weeks for me with Manx Grand Prix and other work stuff meaning a have not had much time to devote to the scoob as I would have liked but now we are back to normal I can start making progress again
I had the day off last Monday so the day was spent mounting the FMIC and cutting the front bumper to accomodate the IC
The eagle eyed among you will notice the first major change to the way the car looked

Next job is to prep the engine bay for painting
