So my understanding of this MMS thing is that you can't take a piccy with the camera and send it onto someone?
That sounds pretty poor really, I think most of us have been doing that for about 5 years now.
Would be suprised if the camera didn't get a major overhaul sometime in the next twelve months, certainly seems like its the iPhone's weak link at present - certainly won't stop me from getting one though. Sony's new cybershot phone is packing 8.1 mp. Having said that, I'm currently using a K850i which is supposed to be the cream of the cameraphone crop but it's still not a match for a proper digital camera - esp in the usability stakes.

You can email the picture very easily and also upload it to a web gallery very easily. You can't blame Apple for dropping an outdated system, good on them I say.

Thats all very well and good assuming all your mates have a phone capable of receiving emails or web access. Yes i can understand them moving to the future but surely they could of left that function in aswell.

Lots of people have said I can just unlock my 2G iPhone and sell it on ebay to pay for the upgrade. How do I go about unlocking it?
Also, is the value that much less if it's still locked? Someone more savvy than me could buy it and unlock it, right?
Cheers!

The MMS thing does seem strange. It's not a deal breaker for me as I've sent 5 in the last 2 years!
Still a bit embrassing when someone says 'send me that pic' or 'I'll send it you'
They can't even to it over Bluetooth either!
But....29 days to go.......

I think the MMS thing is weird. I used to really like having the ability to take a photo then quickly SMS it to my wife. Losing that was a compromise I made when I bohght the iPhone. So it wasn't a dealbreaker for me. But it does seem a shame that they don't do it - they easily could do it in software and I don't see a reason why they wouldn't? And no, the ability to send photos by e-mail isn't the same. Maybe when the missus gets an iPhone too ...

I'm reading the white one might be more popular - apparently the black is a fingerprint magnet whereas the white hides them more and it makes it more distiguishable from the old model and the iPod touch for that "look what I've got" appearance as you're strolling down the street being followed by a few unsavory chav's...

I was referring more to the omission of the MMS... the manufacturer dictating to the customer what they should use with regards to messaging rather than allowing them a real choice.

I would love to see BT data transfer enabled, but I'm guessing as you can sync things using MobileMe, that it won't be, as MM would be the preferred method to sync your files, though that obviously ignores the fact that you might want to receive files from someone other than yourself over BT, rather than email or another method.
It will be interesting to see what needs to be done to jailbreak the new firmware. As said by others, I think the SDK has allowed unlock apps to be created, however, the key thing is how you get that app onto your phone in a state that you can run it. There is no way Apple would allow it on the AppStore, so you'd need some other method.
