Actually, I had a 20gb 360 for over a year and never filled the disk (although it was close). The difference is that the 360 doesn't require all these game installs, so even if the hd was full, it didn't stop you from playing stuff.

yea i must admit, i delete the 360 stuff when i have played them, so the 20gig is never going to fill up
after around 18 months of use i still have 10gig free, the biggest thing on it is the dark sector demo, which i am going to play again before thinking about buying it, and after that it is just map packs for gears of war and stuff, so 20gig is ample for me at the moment.
again, the movies and such are streamed to the box so nothing really needs to be on the 360 drive
20gig of gamer pictures/map packs and xbl arcarde games is about 100 years use lol

Oh well, keep the music/videos/photos that you could stream from a PC, or have on your 360 on the PS3, and don't buy MGS4 - Job done .
20 Gig is plenty on the 360 for me - and 60GB on my PS3 is more than enough. It's a completle non issue for both.

Except that if the trend continues, and games all eat 4-8gb of disc space, by the time you've installed 10 of the things you won't have room for any more. Don't know about you, but I frequently have more than 10 games "on the go" at any one time.

The average attach rate for consoles is no where near 10:1 - so for the average user it not going to be a problem.
And remember - when you delete the install data , you don't have to delete the save data - so its not like you are losing anything.
It's a non issue.

All games don't eat 4-8GB of space - And unless you have changed your buying habits - you don't have 10 ps3 games on the go

Most people don't have 10games but this forum is full of mostly hardcore geeks which do

Not at the moment, but several game have been released recently which do this. As I said it's an emerging trend.
True
Guess I'm not an average user then. I've got somewhere around 100 games for the 360 at the moment. Have a look at my gamertag if you don't believe me
Except that if I uninstall the data for GT5 (for example), I have to wait another 1.5 hours to install it again if I want another go.
Not for me

Maybe in a while it will become an issue - But I've not had the problem, yet.
Getting back to MGS4 - I've had too many recommendations to ignore this now - So I'll get it.
I think t s just one of those games that you *have* to play, you know?

think I got 80% with GTA4 - I just don't have the inclination to run around after pigeons - enjoyed it while I played it not one I could replay, not even the lure of achievements are giving me an incentive. I'm playing through MGS4 for a 2nd time just for the enjoyment.
Having said that, there's rumours of firmware 2.40 hitting this week with Trophies & in-game XMB...

took a few games to trade in at the local games shop
GTA4
Grid (from shopto.net)
GRAW (bought from ebay for £7)
walked out with rainbow6 vegas 2 for £30 (new copy) dark sector (preowened) for £15 and took a chance on a random game (flatout ultimate carnage) about £8 worth
have to say, dark sector seams quite good, got killed by that big *** hulk of a beast thing and switched it off
seams decent so far, well worth £15

It's quite short tho so that would account for some cheap early trade ins.
Flatout is excellent fun, bargain at £8
