Great weather or not, I think the break will do you the power of good regardless. You sure need it.
As for Sis, can you not come to a compromise, that she goes to the funeral, but doesn't need to stay the weekend? If your Mam gets out before, then hopefully you have a possibility for her care, if your sister isn't about, but she can come back as soon as. Put it to her this way, you are getting your Mam cared for to allow her to go, she can sort out her own children, or take them with her.
She has almost seemed to force you into a corner re your break, even though she has done close to nothing, don't let her win. Be firm, and put the ball in her court. You need this break, without seeming harsh, surely she doesn't need to make a weekend out of a funeral.
I've rambled on enough now and probably made no sense, sorry I'm shattered, now **** off and enjoy a well earned rest.

Because if you don't we'll be pissed off as we could have gone in you place!
Do you have any idea of how difficult it is to keep up the spirits of people who are going through hard times like this?
Oh, actually, you do. It's your sis who is annoying us
Get over there, enjoy yourself, make sure Chantal enjoys herself, and if you need to, [b]extend[b/b] your break so that you are both completely recharged, if you need to.
And remember, if you come back too soon and worn out, you won't be any use to use lot on here How selfish woukd that be?
Too be honest, I'm tempted to tip off the US authorities that you may get up to mischief so they detain you, just to make sure you get the rest you need!

Have a great holiday, starting from tonight!
Your mum will most likely have to be eating before she can come home, I hadn't ate for 3 weeks and had to be in hospital for another week to make sure I was and could eat before they would let me come home, and that was just on a liquid diet to start off with for my stomach to get used to food again.
If you know there are going to be others able to help and be there then don't strss yourself while you are away at what your sister is doing, just remember, she may be in a situation when she needs you one day, but who says you will help, as you might be busy or be living in a dream world
Raining or not over in Orlando is still better than being in the rain here, I know where I would rather be too.
I hope everything goes smoothly back home while you are away and that you come back fully recharged, but don't let everything pile up on you and wear you down within minutes of coming home!

The rain in Florida was just the usual rainy afternoon, no shocks there lol, but my mate was a little suprised that it went from 3 degrees to pouring rain in mins. He will get used to it
Compromise with my sister is "tell ya what sis, you do everything you want and I will do nothing I want" Thats how she sees these things.
If mum is coming home today, she will without a doubt at some point try and off load the kids... How do I know.
Good example follows.
A few years ago mum was diagnosed with COPD, she had budgies at the time and I wanted her to get rid of them as they can irritate the symptoms. Eventually I convinced my sister that she should take them to hers for a while til they could be rehomed....
I went to Florida last year as per norm. On one of my calls to mum she sounded really breathless, when I got home I discovered why.
My sister had brought the birds back round THE DAY we flew out.!
Knowing they make mum ill................
Compromise you say............ lol
By the time I get home if all is well, I will be coming home to very different circumstances, mum being home etc.
Going to see mum first thing this morning to see what the doctors are saying about her coming home. And to make sure they are 100% aware of whats going on with her re eating and home care BEFORE they make any decisions.
As per usual, I will update when I can.

lol I know, good eh. 3am, 23 degrees at the mo.
Simon who is out there now was horrified by the rain I think, first time in FL is enough to make you think your holiday is doomed when it rains.
There was actually a bit of a storm due yesterday, so maybe it dragged on a bit. Personally I cant wait for the first storm when we get out there though. Love a little natures fury to relax to.
Although last year it was a small tropical storm within an hour of arrival, so im not sure the missus will appreciate her first day of driving there being in heavy rain.

I remember our first time there in 1994. We were staying at the Sheraton World on I-drive. Stood on the balcony, watching the rain coming down, and the building opposite slowly disappearing as it got heavier and heavier. Then BOOM, thunder and lightning like never before. The wife almost jumped over the balcony it scared her so much.
As you say, nature's fury!

Got a nice balcony in the villa for storm watching, and the property in Bradenton has a balcony too, but is right on the beach, so we can watch the hurricanes approaching.
Renting with Dollar, through USRentacar. I've got Dollar Express membership as well, so no queue at MCO and the chance of a free upgrade.

Well I can't believe your sister's attitude Snazy. I think I would soon get to the stage where I got her by the throat up against the wall and spent some time shouting at her.
It cant be that she does not understand, it has to be total selfishness.
Hard to know what else you can do. How can she possibly expect your mum to look after her children for goodness sake?
Whatever happens-have a great holiday-you deserve every minute of it.

Les it only gets better mate...
After her little outburst last night, she just text me to ask...........
Do I know anyone who can look after and feed her 2 cats while she is away from now til Tuesday. Turns out she wont only not be home for when mum gets back, but wont be visiting her over the weekend either.
Mum is staying in for a few more days, anti coag tablets have made her score rocket to 8 for bleeds, so she would be in danger of bleeding out if she fell or cut herself. Already signs of bruising.
Naturally I told my sister to stab the cats and stick them in a vets for a few days, as she feels that mums best care is in hospital. Maybe that will get through her thick skull.....
Off to the kennels now. Over stayed at the hospital to meet with all the specialists and doctors to get the full picture and mention her lack of eating.

Let her get on with it Snazy, go and enjoy your holiday, don't give a toss about what she is doing and when the day comes she needs you for something then tell her where she can politely go.
By tonight you can hopefully start enjoying yourself before even jumping on the plane seeing as you'll be more relaxed, fingers crossed.
Shame I wasn't closer, I'd look after the cats, I'm not a cat lover, especially seeing as my neighbours cat leaves a huge dump every morning by the side of the car waiting for you to step in it!!

Michael,
In the words of Earl…
"Do good things, Good things'll happen to you. Do bad things and they'll come back to haunt you. I'm talking about Karma."
I think I'll leave you to work out whom is doing what
My reply to her text about the cats would be "I don't give a **** about your bloody cats, use your own brain and work out what to do with them, I did when looking for kennels for Tuvaqq (sp?)"
Hate to say it, as it's tempting fate, but it'd not surprise me if she dropped them off at your mums place, wether she's there or not. Hmm, actually, she probably worries more about the cats being taken care of than her own mother.
Sorry, I shouldn't rag on your sister, I don't know her, but it irks that someone can be so totally oblivious/selfish.
As said before, get your fecking **** out of the UK, pronto. Go soak up some rays and have some fun.

Alas the red, yellow, orange, and electric blue shirts have passed onto other realms, probably used as cleaning rags. The make-your-eyes-bleed Hawaiian ones are, however, still going strong.

lol cheers guys, I think this is the last from me til I get there so, THANK YOU for all the uplifting replies that have caused many hours of humour and laughter for me in a very dark and tiring time.
Arranged with a friend to pop in to the hospital to check on mum daily, and she will be there if mum gets out and needs a lift and someone to pop in at home too.
Great to have friends who are more loyal than your family eh!
So im happy, mum is on the mend, willing to stay in til her bloods are sorted, drinking 7up now and eating pineapple and twix's Its something eh lol.
As for my sister, I hope it rains everyday, and shame on them making a holiday out of a family death and funeral!
Dog is safe, fish will be fed, and im going to Florida in the morning.
Thanks again guys, lots of love to you all
