Just looked at the list of cars running, Hmmmmmmm.

Are our guys turning up with head scarfs, with the Japanese rising sun on them

Steve/SMG, pull your blo*dy finger out it's not until JULY, and it looks like we need something to "compete" with the other cars. What gearbox/clutch are you using ? PLEASE don't tell me the G/B is stock...

Scott, won't be long, just waiting for some gearbox parts from AUS'. Then I'll be taking lessons on how to use a dog box

Oh, and getting some ear plugs. The dog box is BLO*DY LOUD...

Mark.

Andy,

Just WHAT ARE YOU ON

Fist fight ????? I was thinking of the "Kamakazee" pilots

Apart from a few token entries, most of the cars turning up, are going to KICK OUR *****. Unless I'm very much mistaken, and there's a couple of unknown "sleepers" in our list ????

Cool

Mark,

Had a look @ the list and IMHO u`ve underestimated the scoobs a little m8. Big numbers don`t mean everything when it comes 2 1/4ing
as most of them can`t get the power down quick enough So whilst they`re wspinning on the line u r 1/2 way up the strip
OK on the top end it`s hands up, only ever had 169 outta a scoob but then that wasn`t mad modded. On the other hand it was good for 12.8s 1/4 and a terminal speed of 105mph So u guys shouldn`t have 2 much competition on the 1/4. The handling will b u r s as well and ok may lose out on the top mph but 2 outta 3 isn`t bad

Mark,

Will make you believe me one day - theres only so much bull5hit you can resist - if I say it's 400hp, most others would say 460

Scott,

Can't suck your rod - is too far up your backside

SMG,

Hope the car turns out as good as it sounds.

Agree with Mark though.

Scoobs don't have much canhace on first impression

Mark,

I think I misread your post! Blame DrEvil for making me drink last night!!

I don't know some of the cars turning up and even though I now drive a German car , I want the Subaru's to kick some ****!!

Andy

PS - Do you think it would help if I slash the tyres of some of the competition???

Hi chaps,
It appears that one of the chosen ten have already pulled out so I need 1 more car, looking at the list of entrants it should idealy have 600 horses, nitrous wouldnt go amiss either
Seriously though there are some real fast cars coming so should be a terrific day.
Also wanted is one person with very large watering can, to wet the start line and handling curcuit
Regards
Simon

Tenkopete,

If it WERE 1/4ml, I'd agree with you, we'd have a chance, but it isn't, it's "1/2 mile"...... They're not daft. The "sprints" have been biased "away" from the 4wd cars !!!!! Let alone some of them are doing 11's, anyway !!!

Top speed...some of the Cossie guys are getting an officially timed 180mph +, the Porche listed, has done 243mph not some reading taken from the speedo gauge.

I would like to think we have a chance on the circuit though, but if it's a "fast" circuit, I think we'll be pushed there too.

I know just how good our cars are, but let's get this into perspective.

Regardless of all this, the day should be great fun.

Mark.

After hearing about Paul Waites porsche from the EVO mag bbs there is no way of keeping up with it. He also has a proper 400bhp EVO6.5 for running about in.

yup there are some mega cars going, but there is going to be some incentives, ie trophies for best in class/group etc. i'm looking at getting some tuners on board assosciated with each group to cover a prize /trophy for that group also if poss.(already got some offers).
so if any scooby tuners on here interested drop me an email.

also, not all the cars are upto that mega spec, most groups will have a couple of near std cars, right upto the best modded examples.
the 1/2 mile distance was chosen to give a fair head to head battle, we may be able to incorprate a speed trap before then anyway, in addition to the 1/2 mile finish.
the circuit will also be fun, while not a full track, it may prove "interesting" in comparison!

there may also be a "track only" event for the same groups , keep watching!

i have some v interesting guest cars in mind as well, which should be good!

looking at the other cars do you think they are going to put me up against something that will obviously kick my backside.
i cant see the point in it.
surely they will put my 346BHP scooby against something with roughly the same BHP as me.

Unhappy

With anything less than 500bhp the Scoobs are gonna get whupped by peeps like Mike Rainbird in his big cossie. Even when he had less his terminals at Santa Pod were at least 15mph faster than the nearest Scoobs - whatever the power. Over half a mile we will be toast.

Anyway - back to my original question - what sort of power do the Scoobs who are competing gonna have?

Trout,

Think MikeRs best terminals were similar to mine when i was running less than 1.5 bar.

Although I'm not stupid enough to think mine will compete over the 1/2mile.

The 1/2 mile is a performance test for cars that can't accelerate or handle well, but go well above 110mph - really really useful test that

Sorry - is useful if it's drag car. Well fairly anyway.

Most useful test is 60-100. Rolling. No excuses.

Mike will be quick then. But if his 0-60 is 4.5 (absolute best) and his 0-100 is 9.5 ish (absolute best) his 60-100 is still slower than Dingys.

i think you will find that the cars going are not out and out drag cars, its also top speed over 1mile approx, and a circuit as well. overall it will give a very valid comparison. some of them will be out to prove they can also handle a circuit despite having 500bhp!

i've followed mike smith (white skyline R33) on a few of our trackdays, he has consistently passed many varied powerful track cars (scoobs/evos/m3s etc etc), and he also won Santa Pod USC 2001 (11.8s 119mph), did 3.57s 0-60mph at Trax, and will crack 160+mph in a mile. he is going and will be one to watch, amongst many.

as for the head to head drag race bit, you will be able to go against whoever you wish, late on in day we will get the quickest in class head to head for runs, but every run will be logged throughout the day.
the circuit will be running sperately all day, so people will be able to come and go as they please between that and the head-head/top speed runs.

from a standing start to 1.2miles, is a good show of a cars power and acceleration, nothing more, but put that with a circuit and it should be fun!

dont take it all too seriously chaps, it will be a great event, i know loads of the cars/people going and we are trying to make sure its enjoyable to take part in as well!

Simon,

There's nothing like a little "razzing" to make our guys try a little harder

Would still be nice to know what our guys are offering though.
