Mike....
Martin - "why don't you pair go head to head in the private road area"
Dingy - "yip, excellent i will be able to put my car against some power"
Mike - "No i don't think so, its too much for the car"
Mike then proceeds to lauch down the back lane at AVA.
I would say thats bottling it, plus more than once we have been at the pod together.

The evo will not do 170mpg in top gear premodding. It redlines at 7k, and does not have the gearing to get to 160 never mind 170, its aerodynamics are also as bad if not worse than the impreza.
I hate this fascination with high speed.
But I can appreciate a good 0-100.
If our cars were meant for this the rally cars would be geared for over 100mph, but they arent really.

was not shouting in a bad way, just amazed that my car suddenly gained an extra 60+bhp. I thought that this day is going to be a comparison day, but it is sounding like a competition to see who has the most bhp. As my car is an *ordinary* RB5 it seems to be a little underpowered for this event.

Pbone,
That's the CHEAPEST 60bhp you'll ever get......
Julian,
Based on my, and others personal experiences, 380cc injectors are going to be REALLY pushed trying to run 346bhp. Even though your fueling may look fine, the injectors will be running at about 100% injector duty. 80/85% is the max recommended idc, after that, they can become unreliable, and jam.

I don't want to sound like a complete **** - although mostly I do - but why is everyone now posting that this is not a competition but a comparison of cars of 'similar specs'.
It is a competition, as the title says 'FASTEST SCOOB' - sounds pretty competitive to me.
And so far there is only one car that is likely to fit the bill. BTW I am not in anyway dissing the guys who have put their cars forward - but there will be no other cars of similar spec running if all the Scoobs are around 300bhp max, sorry, and 346bhp proven (someone stole my dyno map )
I am sure it will be great fun - just don't expect to win - there are some fierce cars going to this!

Hi Pbone,
There are spectator tickets available, drop me a mail to book yours,as entrants are top of the list for them.
And gentlemen we are all aware that we will not be quickest on the day, there really is no need to voice your comments to the same anymore.

just ought to mention that there will be shedloads of similar spec GTI-Rs,evos, gt4s, fwd rs turbos, etc all upto circa 330-350bhp, and std boxes etc.
so as a comparison it will be very valid.
dont get over anxious about the massive spec cars, top speeds etc, yes they will be awesome to watch (half the fun), but will be in direct battle amongst themsleves also. (skylines/cossys/vipers etc).
i am also looking to get sponsorship for a small trophy for each club/group as well as main classes, so any scooby tuners out there drop me a line.
already got something sorted for cossies via P.F magazine by the look of it.

I'm sorry, but running a 1/2 mile test instead of a 1/4 mile is simply ridiculous!!! The high-power cars already have the advantage in the top speed runs, yet this event has clearly been swung in their favour too!! Seems like some people just don't want to lose anything. If the 1/4 mile is so unfair why is is the largest competetive stragiht-line event in the world???
Scoobs are never going to win top speed or 1/2 mile drags, period. One of the Scoobs'a aces is it's traction, just as some of the other cars have phenomenal top speed. If the Scoob's aren't being given a fair chance I don't know why any of you are bothering to go!
The circuit, if anything like the one set up for the Scooby/Cossie shoot-out won't be much better either. There certainly won't be any technical bends to really test the cars or the drivers, and we all know how important the driver can be (except in straight line events! ).
I'm sure it will be a fun day and a good chance to see some wicked cars in action. It will prove absolutely nothing other than outright speed I'm afriad.
I say leave the straight line stuff to the dragsters and get these cars to a circuit for the day. Then you'd really get a true comparison.
There's a big Ring trip in April.
