Back to the original post, 6 vehicles in wait either shows that it is a majorly busy road which means that there will be a lot of ANPR hits, thus requiring all those vehicles, or it was a bit of overkill...
Fully support the use of ANPR but wish the courts were more effective. How may times on cop programmes do you hear people getting a fine of £200 and being banned for a year for driving with no insurance. Great - insurance would have probably cost them £500 (say), so it's cheaper to get nicked, and being banned? Well, if you needed your driving license inserted into your car before driving, that would make sense. Otherwise, it's makes not a jot of difference.
Once you have a criminal record, another few records make naff all difference so you may as well continue.
In my book, three strikes means you hit the jail for at least a year, and a fine of £5,000 that you have to pay off over time to really sting you, and a reason, when you don't make the payments, to be given a good kicking or banged up.
