According to OFCOM there should be no more than 12 minutes of advertising per hour (recently gone up from 9 minutes) on channels registered in the UK.
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/rada/rada.pdf
Its on page 60 of the document.
So it looks like they are all flaunting the rules and getting away with it.
Unless they are registered outside the UK.

Do you think they include the "The xxx show sponsered by xxx" adverts too?; I bet that's why alot of programs have that now, as the broadcaster probably considers that as part of the program and not an advert

That is really the only way forward for advertising, as annoying as it may be. With Sky+ and the internet, as a company I can only guarantee that my product will appear if it is integrated with the program.
If I were an advertiser (or a TV executive) I would start to seriously think about having a banner during the program that displayed adverts.

The funny thing is though if everyone stopped being say insecure or stopped caring what people thought then half of these companies are screwed.
No more beauty products for the vein, no more buying the latest toy just to keep up with the jones.
I pray for the day that one happens, i'll be lmfao for the marketing guys, have a look at bill hicks for some marketing related inspiration.
Yes i am on the beer tonight.

'My Name is Earl' in the US had ads on during the show! It was an ad for another show, all the characters walk on screen, like the sign language dude, they all wave, the name of the show comes up with the time and then they all walk off again! You can't help but watch it and it's soooo frustrating!
We (Sal) got into watching 'Good Morning America', they went to ads, came back five mins later, the whole cast is lined up, they say 'Thanks for watching, goodbye'....credits!
As annoying as advertising is here it's nothing compared to over the pond, YET!

Anothr excuse to give us less actual content.....
Watch the program
have an ad break
ads finish
Recap what happened before the ads
**** RIGHT OFF, I WAS SITTING HERE WATCHING IT, I DONT NEED A RECAP FOR 4 MINUTES AGO.
