mate put this up in the car cleaning area...... some really bad ideas posted above T cut ???? are you mad, wd 40 not a great idea well not for the paint any way

As pants says, I also usually sand it down first. Best using a belt sander and just attack it.

What do you use to get tar off your pride and joy without scratchin it?
Local council in all their wisdom decide to re-lay a perfectly good road by puttin a bit of tar and chippings down which stays stuck to the road for all of 2 days before it attaches itself to the car!

i've tried clay barring on it's own, does the job but takes a while. recently tried autoglym tar remover, got rid of most of it but still needed a bit of claying.
autosmart tardis, as recomended before, seems the best.
will have to try some of the other ideas on the thread though.
