For the record, I never appreciated the hatred that some Scots have for the English until England got beaten by Brazil in 2002 and a sweaty mate sent a message of schadenfreude to all the English in his address book.
Since then I'll gladly support anyone playing against the Scots.

To be honest it started to go wrong at post #10.

Sweeping generalisation if I ever saw one. And just because a scot doesn't want the english team to win doesn't mean they hate the english as a nation. Why do people fail to see this???

Scots are all ginger drunks, Welsh are sheep ******** inbreeds, Paddy's are spud munching thicko's, English are xenophobic football thugs, Jerseymen are crapauds, slimey and can't be trusted and Guernseymen are stubborn, so tight fisted they make the Scots look profligate, and rude to other nationalities.
Oooops, forgot Manxmen.....ahhhhmmmmm, ginger, sheepshagging thicko's. Well, they are located between Wales, Scotland and Ireland!
The trouble with generalisations are that they exactly that, my Scots born colleague would never dream of supporting his home nation, simply because they are so bad, so he supports England.
There, that should of offended everyone equally, including my own nationality, so can we get back to some fun, why not checkout the boobies thread, or the alternative one for the ladies.

Personally I can't be bothered to get worked up about it. If he does well next year at Wimbledon I will be glad to see it and in the same way I would be glad to see a Scttish team do well in the World Cup especially if the English team had done their usual.
Life is too short to get wound up and if England can't win, Britain will do nicely instead.

I bet if that poll was taken before devolution 95%+ of English would have supported a Scottish team. Expect the 70% to plummit with each idiotic outburst in a public area from some Scottish sportsman.
I've yet to hear of anyone English, let alone someone famous, saying they'd support anyone Scotland were against.

How many people took part in the poll? Was it a telephone survey (because we all know everyone just loves doing those!)? Do you honestly think it is a fair representation of Scotland's opinion? I don't recall ever being asked to take part in such a survey.
Everyone I know backs England in the Ashes, including me. The rugby. And even some the football. You come across an intelligent and reasonable bloke the rest of the time - I can't believe you're basing your views on a whole nation on the actions of 1 arsehole.
