Brands GP circuit hasn't got the grade 1 licence required for F1.

Having sat in the traffic leaving Donington after the MotoGP, then I'd say that the roads really must be improved before they can host the F1 there. At least getting to Silverstone was pretty good when they turned the A43 into a huge Silverstone slip road.

I'm not convinced they well though - they had someone from the East Midlands Development Agency on the local news tonight, and when asked about the imrpovements to the transport infrastructure, he answered quite enthusiastically about the railway station they were building nearby. Did he not see what happened with the Millenium Dome

A report in todays Guardian, says it all really greedy little bastids I hope it collapes around their ears, (The truth in formula one is about as reliable as the weather on this Northamptonshire plateau. Yesterday the sun shone all day; tomorrow a deluge could sweep the whole thing away, and there are those who think it might be good riddance to a sport that was once a matter of courage and honour but now stands revealed as a playground for men who, fuelled by greed and deceit, take the rest of us for fools as they make themselves rich beyond dreams.

Well i've been to that sh1te track twice this year already, once for the BSB, and Moto GP.

Whilst sitting on the Curves for BSB a plane coming in to land and to pull up at the last moment due to cross winds, which induced a nervous laugh amongst the people we were sitting near when hhe came round for a second try.

At the GP, we had a few Aussies sitting infront of us on the curves, they had grandstand tickets but gave up because they could only see one section of track.

And access is awful, for example Moto GP, i went on the bike, it took me 2hrs to get home to Watford, someone down the road took 6hrs!!!!

Plus alot of the GP riders complain than if the tracks wet it's dangerous due to what they believe is aviation fuel/residue on the track.

Thanks Les, I was angry when I wrote that, he has done nothing but drag the sport down, the sooner him and his queer boy mate go the better the sport will be.

Might be my memory playing tricks but if i remember rightly, Bernie doesn't hate Silverstone, he's always trying to buy it and BRDC keep knocking him back, i think thats the issue. Silverstone has come on leaps and bounds in the past few years, Donington's facilities aren't even in the same league.

But i don't follow F1 so makes **** all difference to me

I've driven around Donington Park and really loved it. The changes of elevation around the circuit made it interesting and the Craner curvers were brilliant.

The circuit is already long enough as proven by hosting the European GP back in the 90s, so that negates the argument that the circuit is too short. I do however expect that the circuit will change from it's current layout into something slightly different by 2010.

The proposed rail link from Nottingham to East Midlands airport will help with transportation to get people to and from Donington, plus the A453 is due to be expanded to four lanes from two which should reduce the tailbacks. Getting into the actual site, I'm sure, is a consideration that would have been made and something Bernie will have insisted upon as it's likely to be a reason he sites for leaving Silverstone.

International flights do not have to just fly into EMA, as the journey from Birmingham International is fairly straightforward, as the M42 joins the M1 at Donington.

Also I consider that the proposed new stadium for Nottingham Forest, which will only be a short journey away, will benefit visitors to Donington Park as the plans include hotels and restaurants, plus there are plenty of fields nearby for those who still want to camp there. The hotels should be able to accommodate those who want decent accommodation so the hangers on and corporate guests will be happy.
