You do know what you have just stated is fraud and comes with a jail sentence.....
Oh and it also invalidates your insurance (6 points please).

Ensure you declare ALL mods to your insurance co, that includes the decat down pipe!!

I went from a my2000 uk turbo modded to 270bhp to a my02sti in standard form 265bhp. The sti was and is in a different league. Yea the six speed box takes a little getting used to and the revs need to be kept higher in standard form to keep it on boost. But half a days driving and you'll know the difference.

Then add a few simple mods to the sti and again its stepped up a league.
More power, better handling, better brakes and better build quality in the later ones

Where did you read or hear that complete and utter tosh

I work in Insurance and i can guarentee you we dont do anything of the sort.

If you lie, and give us false information. Then the only time we will find out is when you try to make a claim. By which time you will wish you had told the truth to begin with because you wont be getting paid out.

oh great stuff, next time i buy a scoob, im gonna buy a nice newage sti with loads of gadgets then. il insure it as a bog standard 1.6 n/a scoob because theres obviously no way of insurers finding out about my little scam and il save a pcaket. il just never claim or il do a runner, simple as

oh and for all the members on here who are insuring their scoobs as standard/1.6gl's/under their parents insurance, carry on, theres nothing anyone can do.

Its the police's job to catch people breaking the law. We just take your money with the peace of mind that all calls are recorded and if you have lied you wont be seeing a penny back of what you have gave us.

If you insure a STI as a 1.6 GL you are not insured and might as be driving around with no insurance. I cant belive I am even trying to explain this as most people here are smart enough to realise this.

i was merely exagerrating the possibilites of what could be achieved since, you have openly admitted its rather hard to track these insurance fraudsters down.

my point was people on here, insurers etc even guys like me warn others about falsifiying insurance details to save a few quid and not declare mods etc, being wrong. but then when you go and say the police dont check up or insurers dont bother to do the same, it kinda spoils the preaching and "honesty is the best policy" attitude genuine owners and enthusiasts like myself have.

it kinda opens the floodgates to the attitude "well im a good driver, i wont crash, so i wont declare the engine mods, exhaust etc" that we have seen on this and other threads.

can you see where im coming from now?

Does a de-cat not invalidate your insurance anyway? as it will need the cat to pass an MOT therefore if you were pulled over and didnt have a cat surely your car is not road legal anyway as it would not pass its MOT?

i think everyone knows that if you dont give the insurance company the right details they wont pay out, thats the individuals choice, i personally couldnt care less. but what happens if that person crashes into someone, does the insurance company not pay for the damage done to the other car because that person had ,for example a bov.

and back on topic. depends how much money you have. you will obviously pay more for an sti than you will get for your wrx and more insurance, but you will be ahead of a basic tuned wrx (filter, exhaust ,remap)on performance allready and then when you change the air filter, then exhaust then remap on the sti

or you could go for a typeR ,but in my case it was £1700 insurance versus £900 that decided it for me,

I have now discussed my decat with the insurance company and they have informed me it does not effect my insurance however it may not pass its MOT, but I know that anyway. So we now have no worries
