It looks like SNetters are getting indoctrinated by the UK Health & Safety stazi and the general fondness for Rules & Regulations.

Accelerating on a dual carriageway to a speed that is above what the law dictates is not necessarily dangerous, neither is it 'racing'. That it might not be everyones cup of tea, is another thing altogether.

If people like the idea of a fully regulated and policed state that sees danger in everything and tries to outlaw and tax everything, are they not on the wrong forum?

No way !

But cover your tracks at least...

Trackdays are a great playground, always run on PRIVATE property, so no comebacks....

And yes it is already a police state !

LOL

What tripe. Perhaps you should have seen his postings before he edited them. Even now on the second post he says he was racing. Pre edit he was racing in Glasgow on a wet road at 130 mph with heavy braking for roundabouts. It's not just at a speed over the speed limit it's nearly double the limit even if it was a dual carriageway on a national limit, which hasn't been mentioned. Police state or not, even 10 years ago being caught at that speed would be gambling on a prison sentence. Racing on a public highway at far in excess of the speed limit regularly in an urban environment (he goes on to say racing other cars) is dicing with tragedy.

As far as I can make out, fun was had, nobody got hurt. I wasn't there, so I can't judge whether it was dangerous or not. I don't even know if it actually happened, or if it was just made up. Anyway, if at least 2 people judged it to be acceptable at the time of the event, it is not up to me to deem it dangerous, based on an internet forum post, rather than proper information.

Just because it is unlawful to drive above the speed limit, doesn't make it dangerous. I think that condemning something just because of indoctrinated beliefs does not allow for a balanced view. Giving a personal opinion is somewhat different to condemnation (in my opinion).

Yeah think the guy got a bit of hard time to say the least! I mean a few weeks back there was a thread "best car you ever beat" or something like that. A few people contributed (inc. me) and I don't think there was anything like this response. OK so maybe no details were mentioned but the vibe was identical. I've seen lots refaring to "had a play with a..." and just because exact speeds were not mentioned (rightly!) it is obviouse what was going on.

ok so you shouldn't go on in detail, but give the guy a break, just a bit excited and i think alot of people responded harshly when a "mate, probably shouldn't mentiona too much!!" would have been fine. I'm more shocked by the responses then the original post's content!!

First of all let me say congratulations for winning against a Porsche (Not Prosche as your title says ). You must feel proud of that...or not. They are good looking cars and all the rest but it's only a Porsche, now had you came on here and said I've just beaten a Bugatti Veyron around Silverstone I would have shook your hand.

As for this malarky about you racing on a public road well it's blatently obvious that it was public. I mean what did you do? Pull up into a carpark see the Porsche with it's owner and ask him to drive down to your "private land" with you and have a little one to one race with him? Cos if you did he'd think your a right walley and probably get out and smack you one.

Then to top it off you admit it was wet and you were doing three figure speeds on an obvious public road. Two dangerous things there, traveling at speed in the wet and excessive speeding!! what the f**k would you have done if a young mother had walked across the road with her young child and you'd hit them?!?

Now I'm no road angel and garunteed anyone on here will have gone slightly over the limit to test their car (as you do) unfortunatly for some like me who have 9 points on their license we can't do that anymore...but thinking about it it's actually quite benaficial because we don't brag about being c**ks on the road like you just did and think about what could have happened moe.

Think about this one...your doing 100+mph down a straight road. There's a junction on the left and a cars just pulled out about a mile down the road. It's a two lane road but your racing your Porsche mate down it so cant move over. Do you know how long it takes to get from over 100mph down to the speed limit? Put it this way the person in the car in front would have your Subaru in their boot...

Oh and last think why the hell did you put the link to that post for Chocolate_o_Brian? Read the f**ker properly and you'll see that he was telling the other person his insurance was void because he didn't list his mods...hence my comment underneath his....

Rant over!! (Sorry if any spelling is wrong got a little carried away

Cheers for the folks who have saw the reality in this post and are not outside my house currently with large burning sticks.
Yeah I shouldnt have bragged about it, but there have been many and many similar threads over the last while.
At the end of the day I cant give a **** what the negative comments are saying to be honest.
My car, my rules.....especially on a private road
Lets try and make this the biggest post yet....woo!

You did take quite a beating there. I don't think it was the race, it was all the details. I only saw the edited post.

These boys are kiddin' themselves if they didn't have a squirt of the loud pedal at 100mph, or stop racing the RS4* (*change as appropriate) when they approached tripple figures.

I only race on a 5 laned, dry, private road upto the speed limit.

You must have had a good time watching this guy performing these very dangerous acts. Were the Mum and child OK? Luckily the Porsche wasn't damaged too much eh? And how was the driver that wasn't looking when he came out of that (what) junction? His car must have been a write-off.

I think I might have almost been as judgmental as you if had seen what happened.

That is way too dangerous! Imagine the Postie pulling into lane 4 when you are just trying to do a 0-150Mph acceleration test.........

I also like the way the original poster made sure we knew it was a 2 door Carrera, as apposed to a 4 door perhaps?

Sorry mate but I've just re-read this, was your Evo broken at the time? A Fabia vRS could probably put a standard R32 in its place!

I think we need to draw the distinction between a bit of spirited driving (which I suspect we've all done from time to time) and a full-on race on public roads.

On an empty clear road, two drivers of comparable cars might enjoy having a 'friendly tussle', but that's where it should end. When the red mist descends and racing begins, risks are taken which put the drivers and other road users at serious risk.

FWIW, I was coming down Hartside Pass late one evening last week (1903ft above sea level and 31 hairpin bends) when I came across a Porsche 911 Carrera S (4WD). He spotted me in his rear mirror and we had a bit of fun on the way down. I stayed at a safe distance from his bumper but he couldn't shake me no matter how hard he tried (I'm running a tad over 400bhp btw).

It was clear however he didn't know the road and was accelerating hard then dabbing the brakes all over the place. I eventually passed him and he gave me a friendly wave. Does this mean my 2003 STI is in anyway superior to a Porsche Carrera S? Of course not - it only means I had a good knowledge of the local road and he obviously didn't. Would I get rid of the Scoob for a 911 Carrera S? You bet - if only I could afford it

sorry I'm late .... couldn't locate by broom, hat or even my cat ... now where's the hunt!

I always drive well within mine and my cars ability where safe to do so.... that could be 40 in a 60 or 100 in a 70 (private blah blah blah).

My oldest friend died last year being driven at about 50 in a 60 by an inexperienced driver misreading the road conditions (speed only contributes to road death - its one part of the story)

The only way to stop accidents is to ban all vehicles ..... other than that accidents happen at all speeds in all conditions

**(this is just my opinion as the full case is still ongoing)**

Yes most of us have done speeds on roads, but it's not big nor clever coming onto a public forum bragging about driving like this, it's manna from heaven for the Mary Whitehouse brigade.

if you read his original posts where does it say he was on a public road doing 130mph on a round about you retard!!!!
