You're kind of right, but still interesting for us geeks nonetheless.

Round here we see the Beluga flying into Hawarden regularly to pick up wings for the smaller Airbus' and that's a sight to behold. It always looks like it's going very, very slowly.

Fail to see what all the fuss is about.

747s have had upper decks for years- best place on the plane , hands down.

This thing is just an overblown whale, crammed full of econochav, and its an airbus, which i dont particuarly like anyway generally.
Just a couple of the reasons I wont be flying it.

All IMHO of course

Do people actually choose what plane they catch? Personally, I just book a flight and get on whatever crate turns up. From my 26 inches of leg room, there's **** all difference between an Airbus and a Boeing to me.

Will be impressive no doubt. A South African airlines 747 did a display a couple of years back there and that was great! Seems crazy seeing a passenger airliner flying around at low level doing sharp turns etc!

Do it. They normally turn it round pretty quickly (about an hour) so you can see it land then take off again without too much hanging about. It looks weird taking off as it just looks as though it's never going to build enough speed up.

He, he. We watched that blood centre go up last year - very odd looking building! Our office was directly opposite the grassy bit and was excellent for watching planes come into Filton. We're now in the top floor of the new building - can't hear the planes as much, but have quite a good view out across the airfield and at the remains of Concorde.

The Typhoon with the Red Arrows was awesome - we were (perhaps unwisely, with hindsight!) stood right under the flightpath when the typhoon lit up both reheats and stood the aircraft on its tail!

Yeah, Antonov AN-124. Big old beast. Requires between 4 - 6 mins of take-off thrust at start of roll to stabilise the engines.

I'm currently doing my PPL so I'm sort of a plane geek, always have been really, but like I say passenger planes are fairly boring IMHO. Some people make such a fuss over the glamour of travelling on a plane & the airline industry & a lot of the time it total nonsense.

*gets off soapbox and google's images of interesting aircraft

LOL, rumour has it MAN are preparing a bid for LGW. They'll have to find some more money down the sofa to outbid the Arabs!

So what do you do in cargo? I think, maybe wrong, that Funkii Munkii on here does some cargo type work at LHR.

I've been in one of those, it's staggering how big it is. Even when flying it's so big it looks like it's hardly moving, looks more like an airship.

I go there quite often too. Do the yanks still use it as a transit base for airliners full of GI's on their way to Iraq? It was teaming with them once when I was there. I don't think the Irish authorities were very pleased by the whole thing.
