Two points mate, first of all by the looks of it, he could have stopped, or at least reduced his speed, and he CHOSE not to, read into that what you want!

Second point is, in my experience, every time cyclists are painted in a bad light in the media, some group or lobby has to come out fighting with the enviromental angle "but we dont polute" or "cyclists save the enviroment" is not an excuse for riding like a tit!

Same goes when ever anyone mentions number plates and insurance for cyclists. Its instantly branded unworkable, or a tax on freedom. But 90% of cyclists ride like to55ers and dont want to be held accountable for their actions, so cling on to the flimsiest of excuses to try to retain relative annonimity, in a world where cameras would catch all the tw@s that jump red lights, weave in and out of traffic, etc, etc!

If a car had hit her while shouting im not stopping, the driver would be hung drawn and quartered! At the end of the day someone died, and the bloke that killed her got a 2 grand fine! that imo is not justice, he should be treated same as a car driver!

Not having a go, just voicing my opinion!

DCI, that may well be the case but I bet if you were to ask someone who lives near by you whom may be a bit more influenced by the media they'd probably reply with something similar to what J4cko posted.

Yes, I see a lot of bad driving but most cyclists just seem to get on with it, its difficult to be that "bad" on a bike without ending up hurt very quickly, I think its a London thing where the Singlespeed, Urban Guerilla, Ninja Couriers live.

I get annoyed when driving behind the two abreast Road Bike Weekend Warriors having a chat and a drink, just get out of the way ffs.

Otherwise its the clueless on £79.99 full sussers with no helmet doing 2 mph that annoy me, but they arent "Cyclists", just push bike users, i.e. those who have no concept of rules of the road.

My worst transgression is a right turn at a bad offset junction across an A road, I dont wait, go round it via a short hop onto the pavement (at walking pace) and come out of a driveway a bit further up, its too dangerous on a bike, its bad enough in a car, other than that I keep in as much as possible, I thanks drivers with a little wave for their patience, I move in on a single track and stop to let them past. I stop at red lights as I would in a car, they aren't optional depending on what you are on.

Saw someone with an Ipod on the other day whilst cycling, Darwinism in action, fair enough off road but you are limiting your sensory awareness by 50% on the road and I find I dont have enough as it is

I've deleted the rest of your post because its pointless responding too as you still haven't taken on board what actually happened...which makes your opinion valueless. Read the whole thread then comment

Seems strange to me, the "pedestrian" playing chicken with the cyclist several times before the incident. Of course the cyclist could have got off his bike, became a pedestrian, and diffused the whole situation.

As someone said before, all users of road and pavement need to be more considerate.

So what your saying is the rules of the road dont apply to me!

Its people like you, that ride on the pavement to avoid having to wait like everyone else, that pi55 me off

I bet you do loads of other "little" things cos another particular junction is "dangerous". where does it stop?

You harp on about other people on cheap bikes not knowing the rules of the road, but freely admit to breaking them yourself!

In my experience, its the people with expensive bikes that are tw@s, they are like ****ing horse riders, they look at you as if to say "how dare you be on the road"

In case you cant guess, i have a problem with cyclists. I live in a rural area, and in summer its full of cyclists, all riding two or three abreast at 5 mph, taking up the whole road, dawdling along, having a chat!

Your on a ******* road, other people have to use it as well, get in single file you tw@S! Sorry i got a bit sidetracked then..............

Im not trying to cause friction, but round my way, even the rent a cop, i couldnt pass my police exam, but am so desperate for a little bit of authority i will work for **** all, PCSO's ride like tw@s, so much so that i bollocked two of them a couple of months ago!

My wing mirror was nearly taken off by some tw@ weaving in and out of traffic on a full suspension kona the other week, and he just rode up on the pavement and fcuked off rapid, with no thought for my pride and joy at all!

Its examples like these that make me want cyclists to be held accountable for their actions, how ever it is implemented!

How do you work that out? A bloke chose to ride into someone, and unfortunately, she died.

End of!

its all about the context...how's about a bloke steps out in front of your car and you are unable to stop, he dies and you get prosecuted? Does that make a little more sense?
