I don't think so pal.
Would rather save my £5 and wipe my **** with it or put it to some other use.
My £5 is staying right here untill I feel happy enough about the site.
I'm not saying it's sh!te or anything but the only thing keeping it alive is us lot.
The people who use it daily.
Admin do f**k all with it!.
Nice attitude..... yep, I agree you shouldn't join Snet!

It's not "you lot" that keeps it alive.... it's the "other lot", you know the ones... they're the supportive, friendly and generally pleasent types that don't moan on and on about how rubbish things are and how they've got better things to spend their £5 pocket money on....

Well I thought it was well said anyway
£2 a month well spent for me. The amount of misery I impose for such a small fee

yeah i'm happy paying my fiver too. And i spoke to the sidc lot at the Uxbridge auto show today and I can see the benifits of joining them. The main ones are...

get to show your car off at car shows

discount on insurance

organised events like track days and stuff

there are more but these ones appeal to me.

So I am going to join them but i will still use scoobynet's forum primarily.

Cheers,

Doug

As a paying member I kind of agree with you both. For my £24 per year I think it's fair the expect that the people running the site spend some of their time and money supporting it.... otherwise it is just a bulletin board and they can be found for free all over the net!

It would seem (only being a member since the start of the year) that the time and investment from the owners has reduced not increased as the number of members has increased... I'm assuming that's to do with the sale of the site but I'm not sure.

All in all I'm happy to pay £2 per month but if they don't start investing any of that money back into the site my money certainly will not be being spent here.

As far as I can see so far whoever has taken it over has added nothing to scoobynet in fact they are not advertising themselves well when there is such out of date information everywhere.

Scoobynet DO BETTER !!!! Or start losing members who are happy to pay towards the community!

I've raised the issue in Subaru forum > Admin > Bugs / Feature Requests

Hopefully something will be done about it.

Yes, ever since it was sold a lot of the 'new' features have been abandoned.

Shame, as I'm sure Simon never thought it would have been put out to pasture so quickly.

Guys

Firstly. Apologies if it has seemed like things have gone quiet.

Both me, and the guys from Internet Brands are working really hard to get the site moved to its new servers, and to get everythign set up properly.

One thing is for sure, and that's that the guys at Internet Brands are definitely not "putting it out to pasture".

I accept that its been quiet for the last few weeks.

But once we get over this initial hump to get everything set up and running smoothly, things will be back on track.

Apologies again. Please cut us a little bit of slack while we're working on all this.

Cheers

Simon

That's cool mate. I think as long as you keep us all informed, then nobody is really complaining. Obviously, we don't know what is going on behind the scenes so when we are in the dark we are bound to start posting asking what is happening.

Keep us informed about what we need to know proactively and rumours won't start

It's been quiet for a while (longer than a few weeks) which isn't a problem but communication is the key to happiness as said.

So other than "moving" to new servers which in itself shouldn't be a massively big job (I'm sure technically you're doing much much such as a full base rebuild and importing of data etc)....

what's on the cards for the future???

Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate that, and I also accept that I could have kept you more up to date. I'll consider my wrists slapped!

In terms of the future, I'll leave our new fearless leaders to give you a full update once we're sorted. But I haven't heard anything even remotely negative so far. It all looks good.

Thanks and apologies again.

nobody is complaining lol have you read the three pages previous, its definately a complaint. People seem really pissed off at the lack of attention the site gets from moderators. The funny thing is that the adverts get changed or upgraded on a regular basis without a shadow of a doubt. The front page is a joke as echoed from past comment tbh.Now the webmaster has apeared its cough no ones complaing sir well sorry they are mate.

bushiwarrior

Get your facts straight please.

The adverts have been VERY behind, in that many adverts have been running way longer than they should have done, purely due to work load and complications of moving everything across.

There's no need to drag this out further. People have complained. They had a right to. I've apologised, and explained the reasons. I don't think there's anything left to argue about.

With all due respect, maybe you have misunderstood what Mikkel was saying, I think. I don't think he is trying to suck up, or say people don't have issues, but that if the members here are kept informed of what is happening, there would probably be less complaints. Webby has come here to try and explain the situation, and hopefully soon things will get better.

You can never please everybody all of the time, and I'm sure he realises maybe a little communication, would have gone a long way. He has had the decency to apologise and say matters will be dealt with you can't really say fairer than that. Credit where credit's due.

Of course time will tell, but if he really didn't care anymore, he could have just ignored this, but he hasn't.

tbh it does'nt take that long to migrate to another server and get it running correctly if you know what you are doing.

Aw guys, leave them to it. They have communicated with us and I'm sure when they have finished their migration this site will be back to it's former glory.

Being honest here since I was the person who started this topic off in the first place!

It was NOT intended to be a complaint in the first place. In a matter of fact I was mearly finding out if the admin were still knocking about the site and if so what the hell they were doing due to the adverts being out of date and the homepage not being updated for several months.

Yes people might HAVE been p!ssed off but since the Webmaster has posted in this topic and not so much corrected us but advised us they have chilled out a little bit. I know that seeing both of Webmasters posts that I am myself a little bit more relaxed about using the site. Maybe once the new ideas are posted up I'll become a fully paid member to be honest.

As for saying it doesn't take that long to migrate etc etc etc well do you want the site running properly or do you just want a shower of ****? I know the fully paid up members wouldn't want a shower of **** and even the un-paid members wouldn't due to ScoobyNet having one of the biggest forum/population on a Subaru Forum.

So now I add this...Admin sorry for any inconvinience this topic may have caused. It wasn't intended to get this out of hand, was just trying to figure out of you guys were still alive behind the scenes. Now I know you are I'd be quite happy for this topic to disappear or be left open for others to show their views.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments.

It seems then, that the people who have run scoobynet (one of the largest automotive forums on earth) for 10 years, going through several migrations, and a company which is arguably one the best funded, and largest vbulletin community owenrs on earth (and the owners of vBulletin themselves) don't know as much as "bushwarrior" about migrating an enormous vBulletin community and all the complications this particular situation entails.

LOL. If only we had your deep understanding of the situation, you twonk!

The word **** has various functions, its primary meaning being a vulgar synonym for the human vulva, vagina, or clitoris.[1] It is also widely used as a derogatory epithet, especially in British English. The word is usually considered vulgar in all contexts.

Plonker is a slang term of British or Australian origin whose meaning has evolved over time. Partridge in the third edition of his A Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English in 1949 recorded the term as "low" slang for *****, "since ca. 1917". The term remains in recent use with that meaning.
