What Im 'on about' is obvious from my post. It is not correct (hence pedantic) to refer to a 1994 STI as an STI 1. Subaru did not number the STI models until the series production cars were introduced for the 1996 model year: the STI 2. Subaru manufactured the first 250PS models in 1994 (not 1993, the second run of 200 of each retro converted type was made immediately after the first, in 1994): they then offered a 275PS WRX STI Type-RA in 1995, which was a completely different vehicle.
I mentioned the 1995 STI Type-RA to demonstrate my point.

It was good how the cars got there build number from the chassis number quite a clever way to do it!
Ive only ever seen one with the original 2 piece alloys, i intend to reverse mod mine next year and but it back to how it left the factory but i think i will have problems getting the wheels!
It would be nice to know exactly how many of these cars are left out there.
Sorry if my post to yours seemed pedantic!

OK mate, slightly miss understood your post! Had it read numbered versions it would have been clearer to me! Ie ver 2,3 etc. There is a car on here a Wagon from the 100 run, iirc its number 22/100 built Nov 93 as per the build plaque! That is why i qouted late 93 as i thought they were all made in 94 also!

I will continue looking for those /100 & /200 threads. I do remember that Andy Porter owned the first STI Saloon (001/100), but Ive not found the thread yet.....

Im not surprised. Its difficult to really know what the craic was with retro-converted cars. With the well-meaning 'fan' sites spreading misinformation too, we'll probably never be certain.

Yep we did, car is all back together but so far the fuel pump has failed, and the water pump. Consumables so not really bothered tbh, biggest drama is getting it through the emissions test, but im working on it

I remember Marky Sans website its a shame it folded! David at API now owns #1/100 and has nearly completed a bare shell rebuild according to his post today.
I will also do some digging to try and find the 93 car i saw, its mentioned on the thread you linked. I used to Post as Autobahn scooby then.

After I found the thread I had a read: and remembered that David O'Brien now owned the car. Its nice that its being freshened up, perhaps it will buck the trend and go up in value, eh David?

Hey guys
First off let me apologize for reviving a very old thread.
First time posting on these forums. I came across this thread since I too am searching for information on these vehicles. We have one that is on route to our dealership in Canada.
Now from what I've gathered from our guys in Japan and from various sources locally is that Subaru made 100/month of these for the first few months of production in 1994. This was the scheduled productions run of the vehicles. However, demand was so high for them that they scheduled 200/month in the latter months of 1994.
Rumor (have not confirmed this yet) has it that the first ones are plated as February 94 editions (100 of them). I have never seen nor heard of anyone having a February unit though. Rumor also has it that Subaru has most of these.
I have seen March 94 units though so we do know that they definitely started in at least March. From March until about June-July, they ran 100/month. At this point they went with 200/month until production ceased.
Another rumor is that the sedans were all built in the earliest months and that wagons came along a few months in.
If anyone has a March 94 Wagon, I would be very interested to know so that I can continue to piece this puzzle together.
Here is ours that we just bought (getting ready to be imported to Canada this week).
Looking forward to hearing from some of you guys. Ive seen a decent number of these surface in the UK. There is only a handful that are known to be in Canada at the moment. Maybe one of you guys has a March wagon or a February unit.
