Ferrari 430...
#32
Other's have well over treble the cost of a 1997 legacy GTB twin tubo in the engine bay alone.
Whilst I'd love to be able to afford a 430 you can't park the bugger anywhere without it getting keyed, kebab thrown on it or whatever.
Personally, I'd like to spend 30-40K making a 600 - 700 bhp car that would leave one of these for dead anyday of the week.
Buying a Ferrari just to improve your chances of pulling by parking it up outside of a pub is probably the most tragically sad use of such a fine car.
As said 30-40K on making a scooby/evo faster and keep the other 100K in your pocket!!

LOL I don't give a toss about resale value, I won't be selling it. Besides it's not about the money its about building and driving the thing
Incedently whats the depreciation on a £130K ferrari these days???????

May of been an mr2 with a kit on! If He can afford an F430 I think he'd have money to do something more fun. Theres one of these at the gym where my mate goes. The guy that owns it has got muscle implants , they call him the 'fake man'

The guy that owns the Marina where I work has a new, fully optioned F430. He's also got a 40 metre cruiser, a 19 metre big-game fishing boat, huge house with the beach in front and canals behind (to park his boat), owns a huge construction business and has a garage full of motors that would make anyone envious.
He is also, quite possibly, the most discontent person I have ever met.
His insurance company would only insure his car between the hours of 10am and 5pm and the car has to be undercover whenever it's parked!!!!! It's not like he's young either, he's almost 60!!
Still, it's a nice looking motor all the same.

They seem to excel at straight line drags to illegal speeds on public roads but little else.

Oh deary me:
1) Just because someone wears clothing that advertises the make of their car doesn't automatically make them a plonker; it's a matter of taste - owners of many marques, including Subaru, do it. Posing is a big part of owning a Prestige marque; if you've got it, flaunt it!
2) And just because some criticises the owner of a prestige marque, doesn't mean they're just jealous, not successful/or that they don't work hard: stop being sodding condescending!

Maybe they're not designed as a track car. I don't see many Porsches in the WRC

Why do some impreza owners seem to think their car bears any relation to a WRC car?

The Impreza was never a track car and was certainly never successful internationally in any race series I've ever heard of. The 996 on the other hand would have won its class at loads of races/championships around the world (and I don't just mean the Porsche Supercup!). However, when it comes to WRC rallies, I think you'll find the last win for Porsche would have been a generation ago at the 1980 Tour de Corse, whereas the Subaru has won dozens of WRC events. So it's horses for courses I suppose: your 996 is more suited to the track, whilst the Impreza's real home is the rally stage. Personally I don't see the point in spending huge amounts of money trying to make an Impreza go quicker round a circuit, you may as well just spend the money on a specialist track car.

I suggest you check out Time attack forget the Pro class I'm sure most if not all the Club class subaru entries will leave you and your 996 substantially humbled!

I wouldn'tbe surprised if a 118 bhp Elise beats the *** off you on a track for the reasons I've given above.

Regarding the 'quick' Imprezas on track why is it that in my experience they're poor under braking and can't keep up?
Guess it must be the drivers.
Re: Elise or exige they're relatively rare over here but their BHP defecit counts against them on a power circuit like the ring.

Depends which Subaru drivers you come up against. You seem to have ignored the previous statement in that and I'll put this slightly more bluntly.
I'm sure that all of the Subaru Time Attack entries will wipe the floor with you on any track!
Anyone thinking that an Impreza doesn't make a good track car seriously needs to go to atleast one round and see just how quick the likes of RCMS, Zen et al really are.

I've never heard of subaru chav attack, I'm sure it's great but I prefer to do my driving in places with a bit of class like Spa or the 'ring as opposed to some coned off car park in an 'armpit' location. Still don't imagine some of these tuned up saloon cars can manage more than a few miles before imploding.

Evo's also compete in Time Attack, the spec of the cars that enter are awesome.
Its about driving the car, doesn't matter where, but there again mate, you like to drive in "class" locations like the ring and Spa
Sounds to me your as bad as the Ferrari owner tbh, do you feel like a big fish in a little pond turning up at the ring in your Porche.....I bet you get all the women wet mate....

I have of course heard of time attack, likewise I've never seen any so called 'fast' Imprezas on the 'ring.

Welcome - Time Attack UK is not exactly on coned off carparks. I think you'll find Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donnington Park are just some of the locations, oh hang on a moment haven't they been home to F1 GP's???? You really do need to address your ignorance sunshine!!

Anyone remember this?
YouTube - Cossiekiller at The Ring 2
Even a pretty much std UK turbo can mix it with the big boys at the ring. The Spec C did rather well IIRC
