sorry dude, im a little dumbfounded by this.
i was under the assumption you were really stuck for cash? hence why i sent you the standard dumpvalve for postage costs to yourself and didnt ask for anything in return... you know a favour for someone struggling (bit like me).
if i had known it was more a case of appeasing your mrs and certainly not a cash flow issue, especially considering my financial situation and the difference the few ££ would have made to me.
looks like i got stung there.... i certainly will not be doing anyone a favour again

Dave at API is a top man, but as others have said watch the cost, he is the best though. Let me know what you decide about the engine, I'm after bits for our V5 Grp n Rally Car. Good luck with the rebuild.

Hey Scooby23
A synopsis of this thread.
Just interested what your thoughts are now?
How do you reckon Chocolate o brian(and everybody else that has read this thread) may be feeling/thinking, he just had to sell his scoob (pride and joy) becuase hes skint, when he helped a fellow SNetter out who appears to be in a financial dilema?
I'm confused.
Bearing in mind that Chocolate o brian has just had to sell his scoob due to his financial situation.(Well publicised on SN forum)
COB does his bit for somebody who appears to be in a similar financial dilema
Ok, just spoke to David at API and they are picking it up a week today
I decided the car was way too good to break or sell on cheap so after a call to David he made me feel at ease that they are the best people for the job and it will be done right first time.
They are going to take the engine out and once out can advise me of the total cost. Gotta say he was very friendly and very helpful, after being stung for a rebuild before at the cost of 5k i was very dubious about trusting a rebuilder again but lets hope that my faith in API pays off
Look forward to meeting you soon David and the gang at API

Well guys
I'm absolutely gutted, as you know just got my STI V5 about a week ago and the big ends just gone today, absolutely gutted. Problem is i'm in a right dilema here, i can't really afford the repair bill as i think i'm looking at at least 2k+ to get repaired, and thats money i do not have. Now i've worked out that i could probably break the car for close to £6k but don't wont to do that as the car is in fantastic condition and has only done 55k miles and has a very good spec.
Blah Blah Blah

thats cos you lied and told everyone you was skint and couldn't afford to get a rebuild! Andy (who is also skint) offered it FOC cos he thought he was helping someone out in a similar boat. then in the next breath you have a rebuild done at the most expensive place, nice work

I fancy a 2.33ltr closed deck block, MD321T, 500bhp conversion on my car, but money is a bit tight....can anyone help out?
Well.....when I say money is a bit tight....what I mean is that although I earn £75K a year, I have mega credit card bills and stuff coz I'm crap with money.........anyone feel like helping out now??
Sorry Scooby23........I'm having a bit of fun at your expense, but as previous posters have said......it does seem like you bent the truth a little and Andy tried to help out a fellow Scoob owner that was in a poor financial situation like himself.
The poor **** has a 205GTI ffs......how bad can it get???

This is what i love about Scoobynet!!! Full of people who think they know it all and post up **** because they haven't got anything better to do!!!
Not that i have to justify myself to any of you over this but i feel i will anyway.
I can not and i repeat CAN NOT!!!! afford to repair this car, i do not have the funds in my bank to do so, i work full time and for the sh1ty minimum wage of £5.52, i have a mortgage and bills to pay and have roughly about £200 a month spare money, and by spare i mean money i can take my missis out to the flicks or out for a meal!!!
So now the engine is fooked i'm left with a car thats worth about 2.5k as is or about £4k in parts.
So i've decided that i'm gonna get the repair done and pay for it with my plastic so that at least i'll have a car i can sell on after its done.
Andy said he had a dv and i pm'd him asking HOW MUCH DELIVERED!!! It was his choice to say a fiver!!
ANDY - i know you'll read this so please pm your address as i'd rather you have the poxy dv back, i didn't in anyway try to con you out of it, you obviously need the spare cash so i'd like to return it to you.
Now, for those of you that posted without knowing the facts

Just as an aside, how the f*ck can you afford a Scoob of any kind when you earn £5.52 per hour AND have a mortgage AND have £200 a month spare to treat the Mrs?
If you worked 12 hours a day, every day for 30 days a month you'd earn just under £2,000 before tax. Do you really work that much??
Not having a dig, just trying to work out how to run a performance car and pay for a mortgage on £5.52 per hour .

Just cause i dont earn stupid money doesn't mean that i cant own a scooby, I make a lot of sacrifices so that i can own a scooby. i probably dont get the full enjoyment out of it cause i cant just put £50 in the car and go out for a blast, but i tell you what, it makes me happy when i just drive down the road to work in the mornings and the drive home afterwards, even if it is only 5 minutes!!!

Instead of paying to send the part back and being arsey with the man: better that you send him a small amount of money. Surely everyone benefits that way?

ive already stated i DO NOT want it back. its useless to me as im driving around in an old french car now, due to a genuine money issue.
scooby23, do as you want with it, im past giving a toss. its the principal of it not the money side. im bigger than that. when i sold you it, you put me under the impression that you were going to sell mods off the car, ie brakes, aftermarket d.v. etc to fund a rebuild. if you had simply said you were using plastic to pay for it i still wouldnt have minded, as its your decision, and i believed i was doing you a favour.
buuut, the sneaky way in which you have gone about it, and the inevitable trip up in your previous posts (which have been quoted to for all to see), well..... i give up.
keep the b@stard thing, unfortunatley i have very sour feelings about the whole transaction now...
as i said previously, i wish you well with your car, and i genuinely mean that. the matter is closed as far as im concerned, i have no further comment to make

Fix the car and sell it, thats the only way your going to pay off that credit card bill on 5.52 per hour!
Sorry to say scooby23, but you have made yourself look a right c**t.

who on earth works for 5.52 an hour and buys an impreza ??
yr earning less than it uses in fuel an hour !!!
what about insurance, maintainance, road tax ?????????????
time to look for a better job- surely there is more out there than that ?? bet tesco will pay you more to stack shelves ???
cut yr cloth accordingly young man, is a great phrase that springs to mind.

I had a 1.9 gti 2 years ago which I bought for £800 a good runner with loads of tax/mot. Hardly a lavish sum for a car than can be used as an everyday car and runs on nul.

i picked it up for less than a grand and it came with lots (and i mean lots) of unwanted spares. i have spent every little on it, and i dare say its one of the cheapest cars ive had when it comes to repairs. plus i have a couple of contacts who know 205's very well. so theres your answer
besides regardless of whether im skint or im a multi-millionaire ***** waver off here, it still dosent discount thr fact "scooby23" went about the way he did.
