I was going to suggest this, which allows you to use your iPhone (2G or 3G from the look of things) tethered to your computer.
It has been removed from the AppStore though, the listing is there, but you cannot purchase it. The developers are talking with Apple to find out what is going on.
Some Carriers explicitly forbid tethering, and if you do use it, you'll probably incur massive usage charges, however some carriers do allow tethering.
Interestingly, AT&T has stated that using P2P on their 3G network is grounds for disconnection, so perhaps the app being pulled has something to do with that. It might be Apple deciding that they don't want bad press from users who will download an app that is sanctioned by Apple, as it's on their App Store, and then get disconnected for using P2P via tethering, or face massive charges for using it tethered.

What a great app, does what it says on the tin. Plus with bit of port mapping my iPhone is now serving files over the internet!
