No he wasn't half asleep, the problem here is the circuit combined with modern F1 cars.
Kimi spent most of the race behind Alonso and eas unable to use the speed he had in the car.
The nature of the Hungary circuit with all its sweeping corners is that there is nowhere to make a 'late braking dive down the inside' so all you get is a short straight and then a high speed sweeping corner leading to another and then another short straight and so on. The dirty air prevents the cars getting close and the relatively high speed of the corners prevents any overtaking attempts as the cars never slow down enough.
Once Alonso was out of the way after the 2nd stop then Kimi could drive the car to its potential and then he was the fastest man out there.
Nothing to do with being asleep or not trying. This thread makes me laugh - a little knowledge is a dangerous thing

Yes he was stuck behind Alonso, but as an F1 follower surely you can see Kimi is not going through a rich vain of form at the moment. Qualifying 6th for the second race in a row is not where I'd expect to see him - even if the McLaren clearly has the edge (in quali at least)
I hope Ferrari can come back stronger at the next race - not usually a Ferrari fan, but Massa drove a fantastic race and my opinon of him as a racer has grown quite a bit! Hopefully Kimi can show his full potential next time as well by qualiftying somewhere near the front

You're not alone. His job is by no means easy and today he put Hill right on a few occasions. He might not be the type of bloke I'd want to invite round for a social event, but he serves the purpose intended on my TV screen.
I doubt those that complain about him could do a job even remotely as good.

James Allen couldn't work out why Glock was pitting when the radio had just said he could go to the end. It was actually Trulli in the pits and the on screen display had his name up. Useless. I hope the beeb can do better.

What he does do is infuriate me with his over exaggeration of anything Hamilton related, both postive and negative.
Exmaple, when Hamilton came in for his puncture yesterday, it was with 28 laps to go. James Allen made a big point of the huge problem that driving on the super softs would present.
Exactly one lap later, Massa came in and swapped over to the super softs.
Now apparantly that one extra lap meant that there was no problem whatsoever any more, because not a single mention was made of the fact that Massa had to cope with 27 laps of the super softs.
Now of course there is a difference between McLaren and Ferrari trye wear - but the was James Allen went on, you would think that we were facing the end of civilisation as we know it with 28 laps to go, and certain victory with 27 laps to go.

Also, he cam eout with another absolute stunner yesterday.
"....As Raikonnen removes a tear of from his visor, Damon, just how important is it to have clear visibility?"
**** me.
And.
Every single race, Steve Ryder asks Mark Blundell, "Mark, just how important is a good start here?"
I want know know, on which track, it would be "ok" to slip from pole to 5th at the start.

I presume if you like James Allen you are deaf and blind?
For the next GP listen out for;
Michael Schumacher
Luca Dimontazemalo
Baldazairy
ooh ooh that's someone else who's unpronounceable name I know
Michael Schumacher, again
Some crap
The guy is an utter uber ***** with a face for radio
PS, this is the short, PC version of my hatred for the inept tosser

Or just positively comfortable in your own F1 knowledge and appreciate what he does can't be easy or much fun when you're trying to watch a race.
Letting people wind you up or even wanting to have a hatred towards that person says far more about oneself.
As Brian Conley says, "eeeess a commentator"

Makes you wonder doesnt it, the most dull racing circuit on the calendar gets an extension, whereas a circuit like silverstone that at least offers overtaking and the drivers actually like it gets removed.

Bob.T, my point is that I don't give a damn either way.
Personally if it went back on to BBC2 and the masses forgot about F1 then it'd suit me just fine too.
Now who's the gheyer, Bob.T, or should it be Adonis?

Nope, nowt to do with "popular opinion" just observing your recent 'swing' to the pink side of late.... your F1 would more likely have Lilly Savage commentating
