Would have thought it's the car Mitsubishi supplied. Trying to push the new gear box.

I'd have liked to have seen them test the manual box.

I believe the Mitsi enthusiasts are all opting for the manual 'box as it is becoming known that the semi-auto one can't cope with massive power.

FWIW, I've viewed both cars in the flesh and much prefer the Evo on looks. I'll await judgement on performance 'til I've driven them both in anger. However, I cannot justify a car like either in the current economic climate, and if I had anywhere near that money to spend I'd be looking at something with much better residuals to make ownership as cost neutral as possible.

Ok, I'm in the market for something new and chopping my WR1. I'm not keen on the new scoob or evo, but can't see what else to go for that's <40k. What has better residuals and is still a good car to drive? or are you talking second hand porkers and the like?

Exactly what I thought. Just too expensive to run as an every day car now. That's why I've ordered a new Scirocco. Still pretty fast (Golf GTI is hardly slow) comes with 3 years free servicing, 38mpg, low insurance.

Over 3 years I'll save thousands over buying an Evo X or new STI. Plus the Scirocco will hold it's value better.

The only new car that would have tempted me was the new Focus RS. sadly no 4WD scuppered those plans.

Apparently Tiff is a bit of a twit and not as good a driver as is made out, my dad used to rally in the 60-70s at club level and told me a few years back now that he and several other drivers at the time thought Tiff was a bit of a tit and not a great driver, only reason he used to win a lot of rallys was because of the fanatical support he had, quite an advantage when you consider my dads mini was also used as the family car for a while not shore you could get away with that nowadays lol especially with kids in the back.

Depends if secondhand (I would go for one in this market with maybe a year warranty left) say with a couple of years old so 07+ I would look at the following

1) BMW M3
2) M5 can you get them for under £40k?
3) AMG Merc
4) Audi S4
5) Mistu IX
6) Scooby Hawkeye
7) If you would import I here there is some supercharged IS350's or something that come in under £40k
8) I do like the new supercharged Vauxhall VXR8 but residuals may not hold
9) Theres a Chrysler V8 sort of half suv half sports car
10) Jaguar S Type Type R? Whats their cost?

Thought the revamped 5th gear was much better than the last series which had a bit of a scatter gun approach and missed all of its targets.
Tim Shaw was a DJ on Kerrang until he was sacked for something or another.Think that he was supposed to be an alternative Chris Moyles.
A while back, his missus thought that he was having an affair and sold his beloved car(a lotus i think) and sold it for something like 50p on ebay.At least he's got a bit of character.

Sounds like a carbon copy of my childhood right down to the mini cooper S as the family car (and kept breaking down)..

I've got a cine of Dad and my God father testing Michelin tyres in one of the 1st 1.6 Golfs in the country....pity no sound.. he was giving them some stick ... Maybe it's genetic...
