I paid £39k for my Cayman and was offered £23.5k 14 months later by the same main dealer.

Not something I'd like to repeat (along with the name I called the salesman)

i've hardly got money to burn but i want to keep the car so it's got to be taken on the chin along with the whatever the tree huggers throw at perfomance cars next.
More like a fiver extra a week compared to my classic which is £185 VED. As I've said earlier, who knows what band G will be in a few years time, it might be a grand a year tax. Coupled with the vast increases in petrol prices and the added cost of running an Impreza you're not left with much each week if you do a bit of mileage. The £200 odd extra each year might not sound a lot, but it's dead money, you're paying the extra without even turning a wheel. It's the straw that breaks the camels back for me.

and that's fair enough mate, all these toys get to a certain point when they don't fit in with marriage, kids, less of a disposable income etc

i don't do many miles so the petrol price hike hasn't been the nightmare it has for others, besides petrols coming down servicing doesn't cost any more, tyres are the same and last time i looked a magic tree was the same price aswell.

other than the fact there's less spare money around in peoples pockets i don't see why these cars are all of a sudden un-affordable
they've always been a bit pricey on insurance, they've always been crap on fuel, they've always cost a little bit more to maintain.
to be honest the road tax was the only thing that kept them in line with your mondeos, now it's gone up a few tankfulls everyone is running around like someone's just given them a massive paycut.

^^ It's the trend though that's killed it off for most people. We all know where it's going & it's not going to be less expensive for the motorist

I'm fecking fuming about it all. If I want to own a sporty vehicle why should dumbass politicians spoil it for me & your everage Joe ... the cost of ownership has just tipped / will tip over the edge shortly where the majority (80% of us) can't afford to own one + keep up with the barrage of other costs that we're being battered with. Seems to be more of them every week ...

Rant over

TX.

We were having a look around today and were gobsmacked by one particular example where it seems the **** has fallen completely out the market....

Porsche Cayennes

03/04 for 15k
one turbo with 26k miles for 15/16k

124 for sale nationally for under 20k.

Even get them at OPC for 17ish.

Shame they're so friggin ugly

I spent around 6 weeks in total selling my friends car, including talking to dealers and potential private buyers. Trade bid on it was £14k back in February (it was a 2003MY facelift model, nice options, 28k miles). Since then until June (when I bought my 987 3.4S) I kept a very close eye on the boxster market - looking on pistonheads and dealer stock almost every day until the right car came up. So I think I've been pretty clued up on the boxster market this year, and like it or not, your brother was well and truly stiffed paying over £23k for a 53 plate 986S.

Looks like a sport edition 'S' from the front and rear bumper mouldings.

is that why it looks different?

we were trying to work out if the bumpers were standard, but not having much boxter knowledge, we did not really have a clue, seamed to look a bit nicer then a regular one, that is all we could work out

wheels were white in the center with a silver lip, although you cant really tell from the photos as they were to shiney after i polished them up
