How do the Rabbits survive (though I will have to check that, I havent seen any since I started looking), the people, the cows, dogs, sheep etc if the M56 is indeed that poluted, modern car emmisions are actually fairly benign, Diesel particulates will generally fall to the floor on or near the road as they are heavy, the CO2 is present anyway and everything else is catalysed, you cant actually smell the fumes.
There are probably are reasons not to eat Rabbits like it might be minging but I dont think Pollution is one of them, not in the UK, might leave off in Chernobyl.
Tinned Tuna can have significant traces of Heavy Metals (Mercury) which are toxic and you eat that, Donner Meat has traces of, er, god knows what but I cant imagine lean Rabbit is more hazourdous to health.

I just tried to watch that and had to turn it off, I'm not normally squeamish at all but that dog raising it's head and looking at the camera after it had been skinned is still haunting me. I'm pretty sure it's the same clip as I went and found it on a PETA site after the show.

Old old dog used to eat Sun Dried Rabbits, my brother in law used to "control the population" from his bedroom window, they would ming in the Sun for a few days and then old fleabag would find them ripening and troff the lot, and they do eat pretty much everything, a combination of being a dog, having massive gnashers and knowing if caught they would be stopped, the main evidence was in huge mound of rotting Rabbit infused spew she used to produce, I dont think she ate the head but pretty much everything else. She never caught one as she couldnt catch a cold.
She used to sit there emitting Gas, gurgling and sighing for hours, Sun Dried Rabbit, so morish, so tasty.
Our old Ginger Tom, got a Rabbit, problem was it was "Dylan" a pet Rabbit from next door, how he killed it and dragged it to his lair I will never know, it was nearly as big as him, he didnt eat it all, I just happened upon him in the garage with his head buried in its innards, he comes out and guards it, face covered in blood like a Ginger Feline Zombie, he had hollowed it out.

J4CKO, I'm waiting for your dismissive chum to come back. My 2 dogs chase rabbits in the garden every day and quite often catch one. The younger dog won't do nothing more now than catch it and kill it after trying to eat one but throwing his first mouthful back up.
The oldest who has incredible prey drive, thinks nothing of eating the entire rabbit, moments after killing it.

Remind me what breed they are ?
I am fully aware of what a dog can chew through, why they have jaws with a clamping force many times what we have for crunching bones, why they have more corrosive stomach acid to digest bones, why they are so stupid and end up being cut open at vast expense when they get over committed and eat something they cant digest, swallow or pass right through.

Sticky - Jesus that video was shocking,
Spoon - im surprised that your family pet could eat a whole live with all that it entails animal four times a week, and not leave any traces of it whatsoever behind. It just struck me that you were using a little exaggeration to prove a point, that's all.
j4cko - just cant get my head round why you want to kill a creature that lives on the field at your in laws,

I did not see it, but was shocked to hear about some animals being skinned alive. That really is unimaginably cruel and those doing that sort of thing should be strung up for it.
I have nothing against eating animals, but they should be painlessly dispatched even fish.

I'm glad I didn't see it, animal cruelty really gets to me!

You stay as surprised as you want. Up to 35 rabbits at night on the field makes for a good game. I leave the exaggerations for the attention seekers.

Just want to see how to, see if I can, I want to teach the kids the reality of where meat comes from, they are free and organic, they taste good (I have heard). Kill a few and you can sell it to shops. Some years, they are overrun with Rabbits and they can be quite destructive, comparatively quiet this year so I probably wont get chance but some years they eat all the plants, this year its Squirrels nesting in the roof causing a nuisance.
The end result is to eat meat, something has to die and be cooked (or not if you are a "Spoonhound") so the net result is the same, people are happy about killing Rats but because Rabbits are more appealing. Anyway you were quite happy when the cat got that Magpie !

So a GSD can make a Rabbit dissapear, perhaps that way of making one dissapear isnt suitable for kids parties, Stick to a Magician with a top hat, it wont make the kids cry.
Must save money on Dog Food !

We have quite a bit of damage too and our perimeter hedges have chain link fencing in the middle buried under ground, (to keep the dogs in). The rabbits have dug under that in a few places and left huge tunnels leading out of the garden. Granted our dogs are too big to go through and they quickly get repaired but this year has made more work than previous years.
Maybe I could send a few up?

The food issue is a problem as monitoring intake isn't easy. The eldest in no longer in competition though and effectively retired so where as his weight was critical, it's not anymore and a couple of Kg's above his fighting weight won't hurt. He's weighed often enough too, despite being able to tell his weight by looking.
