I currently own an Elise, but miss my old Scoob. I will get back into the fold and i just can't see me getting anything other than a Classic. Another thing to take into account is the £400 tax that the Blob will have as opposed to the P1 which wont. On the other hand, the Blob will be on 10k services whereas the P1 will be on 7.5k services.
Swerve ball - Do a search on Scooby23 who is selling an STi V for £7k and the car is currently having a re-build at API. The extra that this will cost to insure will surely be offset by the way cheaper asking price, and the fact it's on a new engine will promote some confidence in it lasting a while
Financially, selling my Elise at 8 months old would be stupied but that STi is tempting

Its such a hard decision!!!!
with the blob sti ppp you appear to get slightly more for your money ie newer car build quality etc etc but the p1 will hold its value better.
I do really like the look of the blobs, but the p1 is a legend!
I think 'azz250478' may have summed it up in saying;
'So imo the p1 is the car you want but the blob is the car you should get, but you will enjoy whichever you choosde that is for certain.'
Why cant I decide, my brain hurts!!! lol.
no brainer really, in a few year's time the P1 will be a true classic , cant imagine that of the blobeye that is why you get more car for the money with the blob !!, the hawk eyes are much better looking though !

Thanks for all your thoughts guys, i think the blob sti ppp is probably the best idea.
I would only worry about the p1 going pop everytime i gave it some.
Ill let you know when i hopefully get one [next month or 2] and ill get some pics up.
Thanks again.

I'd go for the Blob STI too, although I think you must be mad if you are going to be paying that much for your insurance!!! There's a nice red blob wrx ppp in the for sale section for £6999, i'd see if that would be any less to insure if I were you plus you'll be saving a few quid on the purchase.

I do like the look of the P1, but I can't stop thinking of it as the poor man's 22B. Sorry.

poor mans 22b? i take that as an insult my friend, so all the lads that modify there classics with a p1 splitter and p1 wheel are a poor mans p1?
the p1 is a car in it's own right, may i ask if you have modified your car at all?

go for the p1 m8 i had one, had to sell it when i needed a 4dr car (impreza blobeye) and its just not the same the blobeye is a superb car, just preferred the p1 try both of them first and see for yourself,im sure if you ask there must be some guys near you who will take you out in both of the cars and maybe let you have a drive if you ask nicely enough.

I just think some people think of it as the 'ultimate' Impreza but really it's not. Would you not swap your P1 for a 22B if you had the chance?

I didn't mean to offend anyone though and I did say 'sorry'. P1's are nice but not the Impreza Holy Grail.

As for the Type R comment, then yeah, I do agree with that to an extent. If you want it to look like a P1 then why not just get one in the first place?

I have modified my car but I don't try to make it look like something it's not, i'm not a fan of stickering cars up, but I fail to see that that has to do with anything?

All just my opinon though.

Eh?!? Of course i'd swap it! I don't really get your point here to be honest.

I'm not after putting people down, i'm very against that. I'm just saying P1's aren't the Holy Grail. Your car is nice though mate, chill!

As for my car, yes I am trying to turn it into something it isn't, i've made it possible to stop now and will soon make it possible to turn better too What this has got to do with a P1 and 22B though I fail to see

Anyway, we digress. I'd still go for the Blob STi

I do think i would get more for my money with the sti ppp.
For 10k i could get a 2003 sub 40k miles sti ppp or a p1 with higher miles and 3 years older and the possiblity of an engine rebuild.

you will, the p1 is dated, interior aint great, things will break.
i work with cars all day long, so i can fix mine with no problem, done an engine already! if i had to pay to have it repaired i may not own it now, even tho there dated u cant beat the look of a two door car however old
go for the safe option, then get a p1 or a 22b when you've made your fortune

yeah its not bad about 7.6 0-60, not quite 4.6 though..... got it slammed on coilovers with an exhaust but otherwise pretty standard.
It is shockingly bad in the wet though, it is literally like playing russian roulette if you go any quicker than 30!! lol.
Yeah, i looked at charging it but its getting on abit and its not really worth it.

isn't this the problem though? looks good in a picture, but the reality of owning it is totally different.

i nearly went for an R33 gtr the other week, but asked around on here and decided i didn't have the budget for it. this is the problem with older cars.

i've had 2 things go wrong with the 3 scoobs i've owned over 10 years, but if i still owned my old '99 i'm under no illusion that i would have had a big bill by now.

newer car always wins, it's called progress

i'd agree with the progress side of things, if it's about cost, then i'm sure if you spend 23k on a newish car, pay for a yearly service road tax, i'm sure after depresiation you have lost more than the maintenance on an old p1, even with an engine rebuild
i could be wrong tho
oh and the p1 is always gonna be a sexy looking car, and drives the nuts too

If you pay £10,000 for an 03 STI PPP and it isn't from a main Subaru dealer then you need your head examined . For £10k you should be looking at an 05 car in a private sale. You can't give them away at the moment. Check out stilover's car in the classifieds. He's probably open to a deal and his car looks miles better that what you're describing.

don't get me wrong here mate, as i've seen a few of your posts on depreciation that make alot of sense, but an 05 sti is worth a damn sight more than 10k.

i was offered over that as a part ex the other day on not a very dear car.

if you need to pay around 7k for version 6 sti you can't seriously say a car that's 7+ years newer only commands an extra 3k premium?? never quite understood the scooby mentality of devaluing our cars, but so many seem hell bent on driving the asking price down

Quick Reply: P1 or Blob sti ppp???
