Does he actually intend to drive this car outside, in the real world, with other traffic, sh!tting birds, gravel, vandals, industrial fall-out, diesel spilling out of truck tanks and drunks urinating and vomiting on anything that takes their jealous eye ? And, when he was chuffed about his PX value on his old car, did he account for the £47k of detailing products used to maintain its condition, or the million man-hours it took ?

Then the car was sprayed off to get rid of the grit that had sprayed up the sides as i didnt really want to snow foam until this bad contamination had gone for fear of scratching the sides as it runs down...

Yup, I'm all for 2 buckets, lambswool mitt and drying towels. Twice a year clay bar, and 4 times a year 1 or 2 layers of wax/sealer, applied with foam pads and buffed with MF towels. Whatever glass cleaner is under the sink, a bit of black plastic stuff and a vac out.

He does go a bit OTT but at the end of the day you may laugh at his milion layers of wax, cleanser, and sealent. but the car wont be as dirty as you think or ever get stone chips due to the amount of stuff on it. I have a mate that details as well and when i went to PVS (yes I may be flamed for currently having a Vauxhall 
but it has 200 BHp 
) his I500 is Black Sapphire same as mine and even tho we drove the same distance mine got filthy and his was spotless (well apart for them dust), Why?????? cause the amount of wax on the car.

I cannot believe that a layer of wax or polymer sealant which once applied must be just a few molecules thick, which is applied as a liquid or possibly a (semi) solid which becomes malleable with minimal heat application would have any significant durability to attack from a high velocity, hard and potentially sharp object such as grit, small stones, or whatever other crap hits your car. If you consider you may be doing 70mph or more, and the object could be doing that in the opposite direction, you could have a hard, sharp projectile with a closing velocity in excess of 140mph striking a substance with obviously weak molecular bonds (hence the ease of application) and a microscopic physical structure. Under such attack it simply cannot add any protection whatsoever IMHO. I agree that with reduced adhesion dirt and other contaminants will fail to bond as well and so the car will remain cleaner, and be easier to clean thereafter, but if you want less stone chips the best advice is to not drive as close to the car in front.

my stone chips are om the front passenger side, never had em when i bought the car so i belive that it might be true as in 6 months ive washed my car once.... and that was monday

If that's what floats his boat then fair play to him. A lot of people on here pay similar attention to their cars although perhaps without the mineral water or so many layers of wax
I am quite impressed with the shiny products he's added though, they look very well made and I bet cost him a few £££'s.

this is the reason i don`t do "detailing" here at work and turn the jobs away, because i just think its all a load of marketed, complete, bull****.

i do believe he is over the OCD line, but if it makes him happy, then let him get on with it and snigger in silence

Holy ****, i actually feel normal now when i take my wheels off to clean the inside of them once every couple of months during my 'big clean'. Jez thats serious bad there, that boy has a problem....using mineral water to rinse the car, like FFS what is going on there
