What we all need to remember is that car choice is a personal thing. I personally don't like the new shape, but I've not driven one, so I can't say I'd like it or not. I didn't like the bugeye's looks, when I first saw it, but had two, a wagon and saloon. I was very derogatory about the hawkeye when I saw the photo's. Guess what I drive now?!?

Does that make a hypocrite, probably. Do I care that I'm not driving "THE" Classic, nope, had one, and I've moved on.

I see an 08 WRX quite a bit as the owner lives near me, and yes it looks like a Civic/Focus/Hyundai. If it's still that shape when I decide to buy a new car, will I have test drive, probably.

For me a big part of why I like a car is the way it drives. I test drove a Civic, and it was so good it was bland, no spirit, no character, but I see loads of them on the roads.

That type of hatchback shape seems to be fashionable at the moment, hence why we say the new shape is so indistinct. The manufacturers build
now, what their design team, engineers, marketing team, focus groups and research said to build, 3-5 years ago, as that's probably how long it takes to get a completely new model out. Even if Subaru decide that they've made a horrendous cockup, it will be 3 years before we see any major changes. There's more likely to be facelifts every couple of years.

If you like your 08 model, good for you, I hope you get years of reliable, enjoyable motoring from it, and to the "if it isn't a classic it's no good" brigade

I like your style
But totally true, ok the classics were good back in their day, but that was then, now the car has to be grown up, it is softer (well the wrx's are) but thats the market, it doesnt mean its any less of a car, and that hardcore edge is still there with the JDM cars but what people forget is that the original cars were not refined compared to their counterparts of the time, the new age cars are.

But i saw one in person and i almost crashed on the way to work as i couldnt take my eyes off of it!!

They are gorgeous!! I want one. but unfortunatly, funds wont allow it at my age .

Maybe one day!

I would love to see one up close. I bet they are amazing to drive also!

Shall I clarify it for you, as I obviously didn't make it clear enough the first time around.

I don't like the LOOK of the new shape, particularly the WRX. No I haven't driven one, as I have no intention of changing my car. As I have never driven one I can't comment on whether I would actually like the car as a DRIVING experience.

I hope that makes it perfectly clear.

Default Best looking Impreza by far .....

I amazingly bought one having never seen one in the flesh....

And to be honest I think they look incredible.

I havent seen a standard uk version in the flesh yet, but my euro spec with the 18" BBS wheels, privacy glass, sat nav / dvd unit and recaro seats is simply the best !

I aslo added the sti lip spoiler (silly money I know) and front spots to finish off the front end.

Its spark silver with silver wheels and looks absolutely fab. I am more than pleased with it.

The funny thing is... it's hard to take a good photo of it. From most angles it looks great - a little bit short, fat an' stumpy, and very muscular - but try to catch it on crappy cameras and its impossible. I did see some guy stateside called Blackbird or something post some incredible professional shots - looked superb.

Best looking Impreza by miles......

It looks like the new 380s except one colour and standard power. (Why did the new 380 thing look so crap with a ridiculous paint scheme).
