Get skilled in the trade, get some experience and head to Australia, they are lacking trade skills due to so many people going into IT and Business.

ture but I did say manufacturing related.

I'm a design engineer working for a company with factories in UK and china.
China cant design produxts now but they are learning quickly.

give it time they will have 3 design engineers for the price of one over here. that could and most likey lead to job cuts in the uk

Engineering in the UK! What a joke! Let's face it, we invented the Engineer. Now, he's reduced to grovelling around in the dirt, a spanner in one hand, and an oily rag in t'other. In Britain, any self regarding chancer with an HND can call himself an Engineer. Plumbers are especially gulity. "Heating Engineer" my **** ! In Germany, or even Italy, to call yourself an Engineer, you'ld better have a good few tricky years of study to justify prefixing your name with Ing.
Ing. Ferry Porsche, can you fix my boiler?

If your circumstances allow I would think about taking a year out. Go overseas and get a job working for a charity that's doing some real good somewhere. Huge job satisfaction and it may open up ideas and opportunities you never knew existed.

This is the only time in your life you will have such a chance and it doesn't do any harm to have this on a CV whatever you choose to do.

I am only throwing this idea in the pot but give it some thought dl
