It's a shame the Gatsos don't have discretion!

Even the most pedantic traffic officer has a 'little' usually.

I believe in Wales and most forces it is 10 % + 2 mph before they prosecute. i.e 35 in a 30 46 in a 40 etc etc.

I was done for 35 in Wales and had to attended a course to avoid the points and to add insult to injury I was clocked by a sneaky **** hiding in a layby on a bend 50 ft after it went from National speed limit to 30 !!!!! The course bod said a lot of people were caught in this manner.............

My Calibrated Van speedo says 30mph. Sat Nav says 27mph. I drive to the Sat Nav, and not been Zapped yet, despite going though mobile traps all the time. Latest being on Hammersmith Bridge London. Between 2 Gatsos!!!.

Nothing to do with roadworthiness, the speedometer in any car is only ever a guide, never an absolute indication of speed, things like the amount of wear on the tyres can alter the reading.

A traditional speedometer is only an electro-mechanical device. If the spring weakens, surely it'll misread over time. If it's just a few % out, how is the owner supposed to know?

Modern vehicles... erm... Difficult to wriggle out of it unless there's an option in the dash pod to show the speed in knots rather than MPH.

If you are stopped you must say that you were driving to the speedo, or they will certainly nick you. Satnav would not be acceptable I reckon.
