Used to live in a town with a V large barracks. Don't blame the hotel at all. My experience was that the squadies were a bunch of drunken ***** that were happy to do as they wished and hurl abuse at all and sundry and treat cars and property with no respect. A number of shops and bars had a no squadie policy.

It will 100% be that reason. A load of drunk squadies probably trying to almost rape any woman in the hotel and no doubt smashing the place up or fighting.
They do a great job for this country but a lot are little more than trained thugs and once off the leash act as such.
No doubt the policy is in place to protect their business which you cant argue with.
Common sense should have been applied in this case though.

It's remarks like this which results in us "thugs" showing just how thuggish we can be.
And its remarks like that which just make me feel superior to stupid bloody civvies.

well to those that sent angry emails- you did hear on the news last night how the police had to be called after angry phone calls that evening.
and why would he sleep in his car- was he drunk when he turned up ?
you'd just drive to another.

Fella, your original reply was a bit harsh and really didn't exactly evoke a message of "us forces guys ain't as bad as we're made out to be". Should I just go round stabbing and slashing people up purely because someone tells me I can look a bit of a psycho, because of my haircut?I don't think that someone expecting squaddies to be a handfull at a hotel or pub means that they have to then be a freakin' load of nutters when they are there. That is what is generally called shunning responsibility for your actions. I have all the respect in the world for friends of mine who may be off duty Army or Police etc. but, for others' reassurance, I have found that they don't decide to rape, pillage, rob and murder just because someone might think they are capable of it
