If he was doing 60 in a 60 mor 50 in a 50 that isnt the result of hitting a slippy patch and spinning off, that looks like 85ish spinning out.

RIP but,as i said, been there done that, speed does kill, not the weather,in most cases.

yup - massive energy involved to do that amount of damage

A terrible accident and two very young people killed. Leaving behind a 2 year old girl is also so tragic.

Whatever the circumstances you cant escape the fact that it is a sad news story.Makes you think when you are bombing along with your family in the car

Terrible accident, but he must have been booting it to do that much damage. Even if he did slip or aquaplane, if he had been doing 40mph then they would probably have survived with a few cuts and bruises at the most.

Sadly it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people you see driving at stupid speeds when it is absolutely bucketing down, and taking no account of weather conditions when driving.

I agree with Clarkson who rightly says speed does not kill - its the sudden stop that's the bummer!

Looking at one of the local press photos of the accident, the tree they hit could not be in a more dangerous position as it sits right on the edge of the road right where it goes from 3 lanes to two lanes.

A bit of armco might well have reduced the consequences.
