time to take your perception medication!
Nobody is bashing the Scoob. Personally, I'll always have a soft-spot for them.
The discussion was about how good or bad the Golf is in comparison.
IMHO, it's a highly under-rated car that seems to be judged on the old mk4's failings.
All I was saying is that the gti is a lot closer to the scoob than people think (in non-Sti form anyway)

well I've had more vw's than most over the years....... it was a toss up between an R32 and my wrx.

went for wrx and a good choice.

golf's ok- but don't like the dealers, prices and they are everywhere. love the wrx as it's nice and mad---- its also been 100% reliable compared the new new golf we bought some years ago from vw- which has to go back in 35 times in 18mths with one fault after another after another.

I think he was taking about the golf! Why have you been banned? But you're still posting. The litchfield type 25 spec is astonishing thought

I don't like my wife's GTI. The ride is harsh on 18s, but there is too much body roll in bends, yet it still skips around. Planted is the last thing I'd call it.

The engine is promising with early torque delivery, but there isn't much actual torque.

In the wet, even untuned at 200 PS it is pathetic.

He's not banned, infact hes just come back from a ban, after being banned for the totting up proceedure on infractions (Guy speaks his mind).

When your a blue or orange member, you can change the little heading under your username... mine says 'Je suis le Stig'

I've got one for my company car, and in "normal" road apps, it's 90% as quick as my 280/306 Impreza BUT if I drive the subaru in full-on attack mode it blows the golf away.

If I had to have just 1 car, I'd compromise with a Golf GTI because it can be lived with on a daily basis, and it drives well, picks up its heels and handles, too!
