Jackie Stewart and Stirling Moss both condemn the decision to penalise Hamilton. Stewart calls for full-time stewards.

Even Ferrari team chief Stefano Domenicali described the British driver's controversial overtaking pass on world champion Kimi Raikkonen at the climax to yesterday's dramatic race as just a 'racing' incident.

Good for Domenicali. Heartening to see an honest man who is prepared to give a true opinion possibly in the face of his bosses.
Hope it will do a bit of good coupled with the public appeal which is getting bigger.

So we have Lauda, Brundle, Moss, Stewart, Kimi, Lewis and many other greats saying that the move was OK, but we still have a load of "experts" on Scoobynet that think the penalty should stand, how surprising

So bar Kimi (who would rather have Lewis win the title than Massa) you have a lot of British guys saying that the British driver did nothing wrong.
No bias there then.

Regarding the onboard footage of hamilton, at what point after he re-joins the track, does he 'back-off'? Sounds like full throttle to me.

Really?
Remember "Grow up!" and "Read and be quiet"? No? perhaps you should re-read your posts. You've been corrected and ignored information time and time again and now you are getting moral at someone when you act the same way yourself.

He doesn't need to actually back off, he just needs to accelerate on a partial throttle, like maybe 95%, just enough to let him get past before the line.
If you can tell the difference between 95% throttle, and full throttle just by the sound, then you quite obviously know more about F1 cars than anybody else.

my point exactly he should have let the farrari have a couple of car lengths over the start finish and had a dart next lap. It was quite clear he had the pace to pass.

Do you like putting people down, make you feel big?
I haven't thrown my dummy out of the pram like yourself, I don't resort to calling people names, I just air my opinion. Correct me if I am wrong, but this is a public forum, yes?

Why should he? Hamilton had already beaten him to the chicane by half a car length. He forced Hamilton off the racing line. You wouldn't fall over in the 100 metres just to give everyone else a chance. It's a bloody race and hamilton let kimmi regain a place he had already lost the got punished for it.

I assume once you allow the car to fully re-take you, your allowed to try again. Which is what happened.

This is what I thinking in the other thread. LH doesn't really give RK much a chance before he overtakes him again but then is there a rule on this? Do you count to 2 before having a legit pop at the other driver?

Here's his view - note the driver briefings appear to set up "gentlemens" agreements, but no rules.
“Incidents like this have often been discussed in the official driver briefings when it has been made absolutely clear that anyone cutting a chicane has to fully restore the position and also any other eventual advantage gained."
But Massa says the fact that Hamilton was close enough to repass Raikkonen on the short pit straight is in itself evidence that he picked up momentum from his short-cut.
“If Lewis had taken the chicane correctly, he would never have been able to pass Kimi on the very short straight that follows it," he said.
“That was my immediate opinion after seeing the replay."

Massa is set to be world champion if LH loses points, so of course he is going to take the stewards side, he obviously wants to win at any costs rather than just being the best driver.
One thing people seem to be missing in all this regardless of whether LH gained 0.000001 secs advantage over a driver that eventually stuffs it, is that physcially speaking LH outdrove both Ferraris to the end of the race, neither Kimi nor Massa could cope with a bit of water.
Lewis trounced them in my world, regardless of what some stupid stewards reckon.
And nother thing, have the stewards, Mosley etc ever even driven a racing car, why are they in charge? It's as stupid as Ed ***** being education secretary or whatever he is when he's never taught.

Even with the best quality sound clip it would be an experienced man that could hear a 6kph lift in an F1 car.
