Anyone remember 8" floppy drives ( they had 1mb capacity ) but with 240v ac motors?
The next generation drives had a 24v dc motor but the same power plug. We used to watch apprentice engineers plug 240v AC into the 24v DC drives, from a distance of course.
The results were...........................explosive!
Just found a pic. Ferrite core heads and all. Ahhh the memories.

Think I still have my BBC Micro model B at the parents inc tape drive and games.
