4 days into listening to Death Magnetic and it's a resounding yes from me.
Some nice elements of Master and ....And Justice with the odd nod to The Black Album. The boys are back on form for sure
Can I also suggest Testament - "The Formation of Damnation" (for old you old school Bay Area thrash fans )
Lastest Slipknot album's not too bad, either...........

Downloaded it off iTunes a few nights ago, haven't stopped listening to it - great album, definate thumbs up from me. Improvement over St Anger for sure.

just ordered from play.com, cant wait,
Terrible service, gave up using them a while ago and got a refund for the 3 albums that they had 'stock issues' with and simply couldn't deliver.
PS Good album (and great tight performance on Jools) and I haven't been a metallica fan since the late 80's

Just brought this in HMV this morning - the LE version rather than the cd case version.
I have listened to most of the album already and I am very impressed. It has essence of their previous albums and a hint of St. Anger, but much more composed. The tracks are a tad short aren't they!
