Paul I have a Vogue 4.4 .......I regularly return 240 miles on 50 quids worth which I think is ok compared to the Evo.....needed something bigger...kids...dogs etc...fancied something different.......................Long live the Chelsea Tractor...take it and leave it anywhere and fully comp 285 is a touch.....
and it does everything apart from wipe your bum, and I think that was an option lol
As for breakdown, my header tank developed a small split which is a common fault...Land Rover charged.....£29 inc VAT for the part...not Bad....

doing very well to get that amount of mpg fella i think it's a case that you either get a good one or one that fails all the time. they do look nice nice though.
kids wise i think you can be limited as to which baby seats will fit. i was told that by several shops when i was looking for a seat in the scoob. at that time my mate offered me his range in swap for my scoob. was told that i'd have a better choice of kids seats for the scoob than the range. something to do with the shape of the seats. although that was the p39 (shape before yours?) shape range.
they may still have trouble with the insurance though as isn't it a bit of a pain to get under 25s insured on 4x4?

P38 I think is shape before, and they are worse on fuel...the 4.6`s would return around 9 mpg ......................Think the newer ones are pretty much a BMW , or at least they were designed by BMW as they owned LR @ time of redesign ????
Cant be anymore to maintain than it is to maintain a Scoob or Evo properly........a lot of 4x4 indeendants out there as well now and plenty of used parts too, found a complete Vogue leather electric interior for £300..........not bad.....
