most of the time the police are only intrested in easy crime, sad but true but there are still a good few bobbies out there that care.
i have had run ins with the police before but when car was robbed from house by knife point i think i had the whole lancashire force here in 2 minutes, cid, police helicopter the works, car found within 40 minutes at lancashire police payed for all recovery and storage charges. to be fair u only ever hear about the 1 bad experience and not the 10 well dones before that

Ok, I'll bite
Just for a moment, lets assume that the rossers paid thousands and confirmed the horse hairs in the house were the same ones as the horses in the burglary.
Right, now what?
I'll give you a best guess :-
Rosser : The horse hairs in your house match the burglary
****** : I went round there to see if I could get riding lessons, must've picked some loose hair up (insert any other bull**** excuse here)
Truth, nope. Enough doubt to convict for the original burglary NO FCKIN WAY

I've just got home from replacing 4 customers computers after they where broke into on Monday, there next door to each other and they smashed in from the rear in all 4.
All 4 businesses all linked to the police station which is less than a 2 minute walk away, and all had there computers stolen. While I was at one of them the police turned up to and I quote "to take statements and dust for finger prints"
The break ins where at around 5am on Monday morning and the police turn up at 3:30 on a wednesday. By which time all the companies involved have repaired the damage caused, cleaned up the mess made and had replaced what ever was stolen.
Any they wonder why people perseeve they dont do enough!
Is burglary not reported as a crime any more?

The police st being 2 mins away means nothing. Police don't sit there like firemen waiting for a call!
The alarms must have been bypassed if they turned up the next day, unless something else was kicking off, making no units free.
As an aside............... Just how many police do some of you think are on the streets at any one time in the UK?
It's probably about 1 for about every 10000 people on a good day, and at the start of a shift. By the end of a shift it'll be neare 1 for every 50000 people.

A valid point no doubt: but Ive seen an urgent call go out over XS on a beat cars main set and then heard the two f*ckwits expalin that they were busy dealing with another matter on their personal radios. When I looked out of my upstairs window they were cocking about looking at a faulty sidelight on a students Renault 5.....

Maybe.
All I know is that traffic matters are right down the order of importance in the force I work in, other than in the dedicated traffic unit.
As this is a car orientated site with people that like to drive quickly but don't like getting caught speeding, I expect an amount of bias............![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Get rid of the figures and targets that are set, and see a better quality of service. Simple.
At the moment, getting a charge for a shoplifter is the same (gov figures) as getting a charge for a violent crime that takes far more effort, but the same people do that work.

Sir Ian Blair gave an interesting speech in 2005 which can be found here -
BBC NEWS | UK | Transcript of Sir Ian Blair's speech
I think he is saying - 'I don't know what we are for, you don't know what we are for ..nobody knows but can someone please sort it out and tell us'

Not much support for the bizzies here......my twopenethworth
I too have been burgled, twice, both times we were at work.
Not nice to come home to a buzzing alarm and your patio glass stoved in, but **** happens.
On both occasions the police arrived just after I phoned them, they were proffessional about how they dealt with both incidents.
The SOCO, a woman was not a copper, she was a civilian contractor and through her good work and the police using her findings they caught two smack heads for the first one.
The first gang of two male adults(smack heads) one on probation for the same offence was caught by his DNA which he left on a roll of gaffer tape he took from my garage. Before he smashed the kitchen window with a roof slate he taped over the glass with the tape and cut each piece off with his teeth, leaving spit all over it. He then was arrested and blew his mate up too.
The second gang did four robberies in half and hour in the area targeting panel TV's, unloading their stuff each time from a car into a van. On their last go they were chased by the Police and crashed into an ambulace in (believe it or not) a Subaru Impreza and the lad who ran up my stairs and stole the babies wrapped Xmas presents broke his back....but unfortunatly wasnt crippled, but they were all arrested and banged up.
They asked for 40 odd other offences to be taken into account. Apparently they do this incase their DNA shows up at another robbery they did, and then when they do their stretch for the one they were arrested for, they are re-arrested and go straight back in and do another one, so they get it all out the way in one fell swoop.
I too cant stand the copper who does a Starsky and Hutch 'U' turn to chase you for dark windows or an illegally spaced number plate, and treats you like a hardened criminal, but I find traffic a different breed. I belive even your Joe average copper doesnt like Traffic, so I believe they are not all bad.
I have also watched a Policeman save a mans life after he was shot in the neck after refusing admittance to a young lad with a hoodie on a Pub door.
They are not all bad.
But some are....
I work in a factory with thousands of employees most of them are OK, some of them are sound and friends of mine, and some are complete to55ers.
Some work hard, some do just as much as required and some dodge work like their life depends on it.
I suppose in and organisation such as the Police it is just the same.
Edited to add....
The guy from the insurance who visited on both occassion was worse than any copper I have ever met, what ***** they are, quick enough to take my premium but questioned every item that was taken.
Later Yoza

An excellent balanced view there Yoza. Atleast you got scenes of crime out. All we got was some wooden topped numpty who was merely going through the motions.
This particular story will have more to come. Some of the other husbands and boyfriends are home from the rigs etc tomorrow

i agree mate, they just don't want to know if it means work...around 2 years ago we was woken up by the sound of breaking glass at 3 30am...
some 1 had kindley lobbed a a beer glass through our dinning room window, bearing in mind i had 3 kids off 1,13 & 15 years of age asleep upstairs...it still took the police 5 days to come round
...i did keep the beer glass for them but they told me that the finger prints would have disapeared by now
...i asked do finger prints evaporate now then & she said yes
what can you do...

I think the issue for some people is that a crime clearly committed by career criminals should be investigated fully as it is just one of many crimes they are going to commit so a bit of action now could save hundreds of hours of police time later.
I once caught a group of lads during a break in at 7pm in broad daylight. They had robbed the same place a number of times and while being chased up the street a number of witness's gave the name and address of one of the criminals but the police refused to even question him on the basis of no evidence ? Even if the witness's were not enough for a conviction an arrest and a bit of pressure may have at least given some kind of result.
