Support are not particularly good with non-standard routers, but the information above should work.
I used the Netgear DG834 (And got great speeds) and now have a Draytek, both perform very well with BeThere.

Right well the Be box works fine so not a connection issue. The Netgear just will not connect. What a pain in the ar$e. On the Netgear I don't have anything that says point 3 above but under dsl connectivity I have 3 options, auto, dsl and adsl2+ so chose the last and it still doesn't work. All other settings are as above It is a Netgear DG834G not a GT

Hi Steve I hadn't but once I hooked the be box up I had a look on the forums and saw some stuff about the mac address. Its supposedly only needed if you are on dynamic ip and im on static but tried it anyway and it still didn't work.
Got the be box in at the moment and its getting a much higher sync rate than the netgear was by almost 1mb!

I just powered up my DG834N, and these are the settings I have (I used a hacked firmware to get better speed), but:
Basic Settings:
Use Static IP: (You should have the IP address, Subnet and Gateway in the join-up email)
DNS Address:
87.194.0.51
87.194.0.52
Router Mac Address:
(I used the BeBoxes)
ADSL Settings
Multiplexing Method: LLC Based
VPI: 0
VCI: 101
Advanced DSL settings
Modulation Mode: Multimode (default)

Cheers Steve yep that's what I have (apart from new dns server addresses stated on my welcome letter). Connection is there but just can't see the internet. Be couldn't ping my address either. Since i've also done a hard reset on the router and put all the info in again and still no luck.

using your be box does that allow connection?
Only reason I ask is I have had a weird issue in the past few days where I could only access certain sites. It wasnt a dns issue as I use open dns, I tried different ones anyway and also the be ones with the same problem. What I did notice was my ip had changed to a 94.*.*.* address when previously it was 74.*.*.*

Yes the Be box works fine with all the settings entered the same. The netgear was working fine with my adsl service on idnet up until I was switched to Be yesterday afternoon.
Getting used to the Be box interface now (only because i've had to) and it seems OK but if I could get the netgear working and it synced the same speed then i'd rather use that.

This link would tend to suggest my dg834g is not compatible:
https://www.bethere.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6890
Although users on the forums say they have got theirs working. Mine is a v3 which apparently does not have the Broadcom chipset but the v4 does.
This says it should work however:
Routers Netgear - Be* Usergroup Technotes

Fixed it eventually, can't set it to ipoatm but have to set it to static ip setting instead and put the be box mac address in as per step 4a on Routers Netgear - Be* Usergroup Technotes \s that is exactly the issue I was having.
Turns out due to the incompatible chipset with v3 and earlier models that it is miles slower in sync speed than the be box, well over a 1mb slower on mine so a waste of time anyway At least got it working if the Be box goes **** up.

At least you got it working. Have a quick look on Google for DGTeam firmware to see if it is compatible with your particular DG834. That improved my speeds even more with Be*.

Thanks Steve, checked that site and don't don any for the G model, only the GT, N and PN and they say don't use the GT firmware on the G as it will kill it. Can't believe there are so many different models of the same DG834 router, what is the point as surely they all have the same features in being an adsl2+ and wireless router.

Thanks. Does that work on the Netgear G? Again i'd read it was only for certain models?
Just found this THE DMT TOOL For DUMMIES - The ADSL2+ User Forum but my be box is the latest one (585v7) so wont work yet.
