I've been on here for 9.5 years (ten years in April 2009), where I have owned three Imprezas and currently a Forester.
I have learnt a lot from here, especially tuning the Impreza when people said that UK car couldn't make over 350bhp on standard internals, but now it's common place.
This is an Impreza based forum, but I don't think it has ever been anything else!
Yes there are Legacy and Forester forums, which will offer a better resource for those specific models, but if we want to change the way Scoobynet reacts to owners of model other than Imprezas, then it is down to us Forester, Legacy, Justy, Tribeca, Sumo, R1, etc owners to put the knowledge here and let those threads come up with searchs.
To be honest, how often as a Forester owner have you seen or given the same advice, such as change the Geolanders, replace the rear ARB, get 17" wheels, etc? I know I have written that a few times on here, on subaruforester.com and on Surreyscoobies.
In short, yes this is mainly an Impreza forum, but if you want to change that mentality, it is down to people like you and me to contribure, rather than bitch about it.

I can see where you guys are coming from, but i agree with the fact that pointing someone in the right direction for advice is better than being ignored. A quick glance at the number of posts by the majority of you replying in this thread shows me that its obviously not that big of a problem
your in the thousands

With regards to the 'try such and such a site' responses, these are fellow Subaru owners who have taken the time to read your thread. Despite not knowing about your particular car, they have still gone to the effort of trying to help you by suggesting other places where you might find the info.
If more people own Imprezas, it surely goes without saying that this site will be predominantly Impreza oriented. And also that you're less likely to get answers to questions about your particular car, simply because people don't know the answer.
As a JDM turbo Impreza owner, I'm all for mixing with fellow Subaru drivers of all shapes and forms. I just wont know that much about them...

I've had 4 Scoobies: early JDM WRX, bugeye UK WRX, non-turbo Forester and an 1800 pick-up (complete with hard top
) and managed to get advice for all of them quite easily from this site.

Eh - i dont get that!
Perhaps ive been mislead or perhaps even missing something here but - i was under the impression the the nickname Scooby derived from the meaning Subaru = ScoobyDoo
![Ponder2](images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
With ScoobyDoo rhyming with Subaru - then any Subaru holds the nickname Scooby?
Eh?

I was under the same impression. I alwyas thought Scooby-Doo was the unofficial mascot of Subaru's. That is where I thought the moniker came from myself (which is why my tag is "Ruh-Roh") At one time didn't they even use Scooby-Do in advertising?
In the grand scheme of all things Subaru, Impreza owners make up the lion share of enthusiasts and modders. There are more after market parts, advertising and articles geared towards the Impreza platform. I honestly don't think Impreza owners not recognizing other platforms to be spiteful or mean spirited. But why answer a question if you don't know the answer?
We've been helping people on ScoobyMods almost ten years now. More often than not questions come form Impreza owners. In fact many times people ask questions and don't even say what kind of Subaru they are posting about. Many assume I know it's an Impreza because they don't even realize there are other models.

Personally and its just my opinion having not read most of this thread. I think the term "scooby" makes the car sound tackier and cheaper than it already is.
My car is a Subaru impreza, not a scoob, scooby, blah blah.
As for offering advise, i try and answer questions to whoever asks, no matter what they drive.

Peaty,
as usual a measured response.
To return to my original question.
As (according to most of the posts on here so far) most of Scooby Netters are Impreza Owners AND, seem to feel it's their exclusive club, why not call it "Impreza Net?" and be honest?

I personally haven't seen this elitism, but then I am relatively new here. It seems you've encountered an odd minority - the same way there is a minority of people on here who chose to act like idiots (that isn't a pop at anyone on this thread by the way).
As far as I'm aware, no Impreza owners on here have ever suggested renaming this Impreza Net, nor suggested it should be exclusive to Imprezas.
To change a strong brand just because a handful of people feel left out is a bit much.
It really is up to the owners of other models to change the script here. Stand up and be counted or bow down to the almighty Impreza owners
